I don't think I've ever seen a prettier piece of countryside!

So, at the tender age of 43, my mummy finally let me go out and play on my own (yes, that is a joke, I'm perfectly capable of ruining my own life...). I'd built a 2 day holiday around staying in Sparkford which is but 10 minutes away from Yeovil Country Park. As I had driven early doors to avoid the tarmac t*&ts, and failing miserably, I decided on the Country Park having read some fabulous reviews....they're not wrong you know!

The only let down was my shocking......and I do mean effing terrible sense of direction. I had planned on a 2 hour walk to get me in the country spirit......5 hours and 20km later (though this did include a wee trip to Yeovil Railway Centre), I think I have been scratched and torn apart by no less that 14 billion types of flora in the Yeovil Country Park and surrounding area...my waterproof bag is no longer waterproof, my tee shirt now looks fashionable and my feet have learned to swear at my body in no less than 7 languages.

Please go to this place, it is immensely beautiful and you simply MUST see it before it becomes a housing estate.....would also help if you know someone who knows...

Nice park, HOWEVER, was walking at about 9.30am and was approached by one female with a dog and two males and the female asked me to hold her dog while she phoned to see where her taxi was (in the middle of the park!?) These people didn’t appear homeless but I suspect they are criminals and substance misusers and that I would have been mugged if I had approached them. Pity that such places are unusable due to lack of any deterrent in form of wardens or police and the town is a no go...

Yeovil, a much maligned town which has seen better days, is at least blessed with its own country park and the walk from town to Pen Mill Station through the park is especially delightful. On the other side not far from the South Somerset Council Offices is an interesting monument in the shape of a wired head with small plaques at the base depicting quotes of mental health. Like almost all places, the park gets uncomfortably packed during the summer months so it's wise to...

Best Park I've visited in a long time. Clean, reasonably priced cafe (raspberry and coconut slice was £2), toilets next to the cafe. Great play area. Play equipment all working and sand was clean. 2 hours free parking at the car park off of Addlewell Lane but we parked in Goldenstones Pay and display car park which was £3.60 for all day which is still good value. Dog free nature area. Took our dog to do the walk around the springs which were beautiful.

Amazing little find just in Yeovil. We took a picnic but there is a small place by care park to buy sandwiches and drinks. There are also toilets you can use. Parking cost £2.15 for 2.5 hours. Definitely worth a visit, you can dogs as well but must be kept on the lead.
