Where shall I start! The outside of the restaurant is warm and inviting. As I walked up the ramp to the front door I could see that it was fairly busy, candles eliminating the individual tables and a warm comfortable glow to the place. I'm traveling for business and this is my first time in Yeovil, from the service at this place alone I will be returning here! I sat at a small table and was given a menu with a specials option card and a drink order taken by a young waitress. The drink arrived promptly then the manager greeted me and asked what I would like as a meal. I had seen they did a calzone from their outside menu but upon reading the menu I noticed their own take on a calzone that was half pizza half calzone. I ordered one and the manager said I had made a good choice and disappeared off to help another table. The food arrived very quickly for the style of food it was! I was very impressed by this. Now for the calzone itself! Well! It was incredible! I have never had a better calzone in my life! All the ingredients complimented each other perfectly and the blue cheese on the pizza half was delicious! The manager came over and instead of asking if everything was OK while I had a mouth full of food, he just said "it's great isn't it" and I had to agree! I polished it off very quickly despite it being larger than the plate. I was then offered a desert menu, I couldn't handle a desert so I looked at the coffees on the back and noticed they did espresso with a splash of grappa! I have visited a few places in Europe over the last few years and always ended up drinking grappa with locals! So I asked if it was real grappa, theanager bought over the bottle and poured me a shot and to my delight it was! A great end to a lovely meal! I shall be returning for the remaining days I am here! Thank you for...
Read moreMy dad, step-mum, sister, boyfriend and myself arrived earlier than the rest of our group. We were greated by a gentleman I can only assume is the owner, he was rather rude and unhelpful. Rather than asking what name we had booked under he asked how many of us there were for the booking, as it wasn't us that booked it we said we didn't know, he argued with us until we gave him an approximate amount. Which could've been avoided if he had just asked for the name it was booked under. We all ordered our food, whilst it came out there was about 3 different birthdays meaning the tambourine came out. Which was fine, its why we went there, the problem with it was the gentleman with the earrings in his left ear was rolling his eyes at us because we couldn't hear what he was saying. Fortunately most of us were served by Charlotte. I cannot sing her praise enough. She was polite, friendly and had a brilliant sense of humour. She realised it was my baby sisters birthday and planned the tambourine thing for her. She turned our experience around. The girl needs a raise! We left her a generous tip and told her it was for her only, she was the only one that truly deserved it that dealt with us. The food was incredible. So I would definitely go again if I'm in...
Read moreI booked for a 13th Birthday Meal, 4 adults, one teenager.
Waiting Time: 45 minute wait for starters, a further one hour wait for mains.
Service: Slow, direct and did not make us feel comfortable at all.
Atmosphere: Loud, you could barely hear yourself think let alone anyone on your table talking.
Food: Good, when we got it, but not anything reflective of the price.
It was a shame to have gone for a celebration, and be made to feel like it was anything but, just another number, just a monetary figure passing through. Only one server smiled all evening, and clearly 'regulars' got preferential treatment, with a smile, seated, starters mains and dessert despite arriving an hour after we did.
The location of the toilets were not clear and when my Son needed the to use the facilities, I was told he shouldn't use the only visible toilet in the restaurant, because it was a disabled toilet and there were customers sat near by. If you don't want people using that toilet for those reasons, lock it, don't sit people near it and put clear signage for the toilets you wish people to use.
Overall it made us all feel uncomfortable and it was a very unfriendly experience. Such a shame for what should have been a...
