On entering the Bar, me and my friend were greeted by a polite and inviting host, who we now know to be Ashley.
He had a very warming presence, immediately greeting us after he had finished serving the customer that had been at the bar. He had a down to earth persona and helped make the atmosphere of the pub seem lively, even though there were not too many customers in at the time of our arrival.
Ashley gave recommendations as to which area of the pub would be best to sit for a cosy chat and meal and he expressed a great depth of knowledge as to the products which were sold by the pub. He provided us with recommendations and his personal opinion as to which products were his favourite and which would suit my tastes. Going with his recommendations, we ordered our food with him, with a few tweaks. Asking for certain swaps he was more than accommodating to these changes and the food in the kitchen came out as requested.
Once sat at our table, it was then set for us and our food followed shortly afterwards. The environment of the pub was calm, with the televisions showing sports and other customers enjoying a drink and their food. We ordered more than we could eat, as we underestimated the portion sizes. The value for money here is great, with the quality being perfectly adequate for a quick meal.
During the visit we ate chicken strips, the spicy chicken burger, the chilli, onion rings and garlic bread. While at the table I ran out of sauce so I decided to order through the app, to which Ashley brought over the additional sauces with speed and thanked me for my order, followed by a check-back questioning whether everything was okay with the food, to which we replied that it was great.
After finishing our food we proceeded to head towards the exit, Ashley was dealing with a customer but still found an opportunity to thank us for our visit. The service here was great, and the speed of the food, taste of the food and atmosphere appeared to be one which I would...
Read moreThe food and service in there is always bang on from everyone, however on this occasion, when there's a sign on the male toilet door saying ' gents toilet out of order, please use the disabled ' even though those male toilets were obviously being used, my partner approached the bar and the male member of staff told him to use the disabled toilet and where where it was, which he did. Two minutes after being in there a lady who was clearly disabled banged on the door and he heard them all talking through the door saying " he's been over 5 minutes, and he's taking the piss" etc, and he had literally been 2 minutes as I was waiting for him. When he came out he said something like " I've hardly been 5 minutes, I've been 2 atlaeast " ( as he heard everyone slagging him off through the door) the same barman who told him to use those toilets said " no need to be like that mate, as you can see she's clearly disabled and you're clearly capable". He felt rushed and targeted by both the said member of staff and the customers and as a person with a hidden disability myself I find it disgusting that he presented the fact that said lady was disabled because she had walking aids etc but apparently anyone with certain disabilities that aren't seen means they're not allowed to use the disabled facilities. Noone should be targeted in that way. Even though my partner doesn't have a disability but was guided by the staff member to use that certain facility, and the sign on the door clearly stated that also, I don't see why the victimisation came into play. The male toilet has been out of order for a while now, simple suggestion, get it fixed? Or even better, get your staff up to date on their disability...
Read moreThe staff as always are super pleasant and polite, a massive credit to the venue.
We've been a few times, and the food is normally good (hence returning), but this time seemed to be a bit of a let down.
Ordered the rump steak for my son, it was requested as medium rare, but was more like a medium well done. But worst was the consistency. Firstly it was hard to cut, even with me trying to help. Then when he tried to chew it, at one point he had to just spit a large chunk out as it was like chewing rubber.
Also when it arrived on the skillet, it was just chips and the steak. No mushrooms or onions. We then had to query where the onion rings were. They came later in a side bowl.
I'd ordered the curry feast, and while on the whole the food was great for me, the naan bread was like cardboard, and slightly charred on the bottom. So didn't so much break as bread, as snapped.
Although only 2 minor issues, this was after a 35 minute wait for the food.
I understand it was busy, but wish we'd have been told there was an extended wait. It was only when querying the time after 30 minutes, we were told it would be...
