Dined at āThe Black Horseā pub Monday night; booking a table for nine was easily do-able a week beforehand though I definitely recommend booking, it is a busy little hub. There is no onsite parking, you have to find space on the street, weād booked for 6pm and were 3 cars, we found parking fine but might have been difficult later in the evening. The two men in our group were immediately happy with the festive ales on tap, I was impressed with the decor and look of the pub. The menu covered everyone, we didnāt do the festive menu just the regular one. In general everyone seemed happy with food but itās me writing the review and I wasnāt thrilled with my meal; the coleslaw was spot on and elements of the Lest-ah burger were fine only the burger patty itself crumbled up and made it difficult to eat as a whole. Also the chips were sus, they were stuck together en mass, you couldnāt just pick one up, it was a big clump on your fork, I didnāt like them, I gave some away and left the rest. Hugely lacking in atmosphere in my humble opinion, no music just the ever-growing volume of chatter, constant babble in the background. And the service was efficient but no character, we were obviously there for a family festive meal but there were no elements of warmth or cheer, serious faces and no smiles apart from the one chap who came to clear our plates, he had personality enough to cover all the employees. Shame though, a smile costs nothing, eye contact or acknowledgment, a connection makes all the difference when visiting somewhere for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve recently visited this fine establishment and upon my arrival I was greeted by a most beautiful sight this pub no doubt was going to change my life. stepping through the entrance I was blessed with the sight of many teapots around me. What beautiful decorations I thought after a mere moment a god of a man by the name of Adam came swooping in gracefully to take my order I asked for the AFC chicken and a pint of madri both of which I received at the speed of 1000 gazelles the food itself unlocked flavours Iām not quite sure Iāve ever tasted before they unlocked memories of childhood bliss and I have now converted to Christianity as Iām pretty sure I felt god himself enter my soul after this wonderful meal I still think about the black horse in aylestone to this day I wake up in a cold sweat after realising I am no longer within its warm embrace this establishment should be noted in the history books of Leicester for all to know forevermore thank...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad heard a bit of a buzz about this place from Tigers fans so thought I'd take a trip down after a game to see what the fuss was all about. Intended to pop in for a couple of pints & a nosey, but ended up having to rush for the last train home!
As you walk up you're greeted by an amazing old fashioned painted sign on the wall, the theme continues inside with lots of wood, serving windows on the bar & real fires. At the same time the management and staff also pull off contemporary.
It's obvious all the staff love their job and you get a real family feel from them. This pub is a real community asset - doggy treats behind the bar, book club, cheese club, real ale festivals, morris dancers in the spring, a beach in the summer & carols in the pub at Christmas!
All of the above plus a great selection of constantly changing real ales and some amazing home...
