Terrible.

Part of my complaint to the pub below. The response from the pub was short and without compassion. We spent nearly £100 on food and drink on this occasion.

I will never visit here again and do not recommend this establishment to anyone - see the other bad reviews on Google.

Complaint to the pub:

On entering the establishment, there were many tables which had not been cleared of the previous customers dishes and glasses. Many tables completely covered with plates, old food and glasses.

The table we settled on, similarly to the others was covered in dishes and glasses and also dirty and sticky from spilled food and drink. We cleared the table ourselves.

On ordering food and drink, ordering a ‘Coke’ we were given Pepsi and had to have this changed later. When customers ask for Coke, I would normally expect the bar staff to explain that there is either Pepsi or Coca-Cola from bottles.

We asked for staff to please help us clean the table, which was not done properly, leaving us to clean the table ourselves.

We ordered from what looked to be an interesting set menu. One item we all ordered was ‘Garlic and Parsley Breaded Mushrooms’. Much to all of our disappointment, we received fried mushrooms in a sour cream sauce with wilted parsley on the top, not breaded as described – none of would have ordered if the description was accurate.

After waiting for nearly 45 minutes we got our main courses, which is not acceptable. The chips with burger were old and cold. The mains all fell below our expectations.

The quiz, to begin with ‘bodyparts’, was advertised to begin at 8pm. To our surprise none of the staff in the establishment knew what this was or indeed if it was going to be on or not.

The quiz began an hour late around 9pm and ran very late until nearly 11pm, meaning my party and I stayed well past the time we were planning to.

On the whole, our experience was not what we expected, and as a customer I feel that your establishment did not provide an acceptable level of service or food. I wish to publish my experiences, to let others know of my experience, so that they don’t experience the same level of disappointment and embarrassment as I did when entertaining guests. Very good food, excellent service and good choice. The only criticisism I could make is reference the vegan choices. They've got a good range of vegetarian and Vegan but it doesn't quite hit the mark. We went for sunday lunch and I ordered one of the vegan options. When the food arrived mine looked like a childs portion in comparison to the other sunday lunches at the table. I was finished in half the time ( and I'm not a glutton ) so sat there twiddling my thumbs till everyone else had finished. The food was great but a 6" lentil and spinach pie, 4 small carrots, a handful of runner beans and a couple of spoonfuls of peas doesn't really compare to a full roast. It can't be hard to rustle up a few potatoes surely? So, there is quite a lot of vegan options but the sides are mainly vegetarian ( including the gravy for the sunday main I was told by the waitress so I had to pass on that ) which means you can't even supplement the small main with some chunky chips😀. On the flip side, I had the vegan burger at another Ember Inn and that was plenty portion wise. Shocking customer service from incompetent and rude staff.

I ordered 4 adult meals and one childrens meal but failed to recieve one adult meal which I requested. When we queried this, the waitress simply said "well it's not on the ticket" and she brought the ticket out to us which was of no help what so ever. It just proved she was right and not to blame. We was not trying to blame anyone, we just would have liked the meal we ordered. A simple "sorry about that, can I order it for you now" would have been more helpful. I was not surprised the order was missed off as the gentleman taking the order looked extremly disinterested in taking my order and gave the impression that he really didn't want to be there with zero eye contact or customer interaction present. This situation could have been easily avoided if he took the time to read back my order but he couldn't be bothered and just wanted to take my money. After the waitress offered no help, I had to go back and re order my meal which had been missed. At no point were we asked if everything was ok with our meal and our plates never got cleared from the table.
