When your waitress ignores you, you know there is something going on.
We thought we would visit Manor Farm as we had a 30% of mains food come through the post. Having a 2-3 year old, going places can be anxious, unsure what to expect. We took our own toys for his entertainment.
When we arrived, nobody was there to great us, we found our way to the bar and someone overheard me saying "I'm unsure what we need to do here" no real instructions about to either wait to be served or order at bar etc.
Service. Our server was nice, well until I tried to get her attention, she saw my smile and raised hand, yet 10 seconds later she is walking into the kitchen watching our table. I put my hand back up with another smile and she starts making her way over.
Other things to note, I believe they state they are a family friendly pub, but I didn't see any areas for children to play etc.
Our food was not checked within the meal by anyone, and apparently they don't have a drinks menu, apart from wine. Furthermore all other tables around us with simular aged children were offered crayons, we were not.
Food I ordered a medium rare sirloin, peppercorn sause with thick chips, the steak was undercooked, blood seeping out from everywhere, chips lacked a crunch. Felt a bit rushed. My wife had scampi and chips, no complaints. Our son had under 5s meal, pasta. Generious size, albeit plate and bowl was hot to touch.
For some reason his food came out a good 5 minutes before ours. I had to get the attention of the waitress (as mentioned earlier) to ask where ours was.
Final thoughts If we didn't have that 30% voucher we wouldn't have gone. Even though we still have 3 more vouchers, I would rather not use them and find a different place to eat.
I wouldn't recommend this...
Read moreVery disappointed with our visit, we ordered 3 meals, one pub classic chicken new yorker, a jacket potato with piri piri chicken and a children's meal, sausage mash gravy and carrots.
Upon the the arrival of the jacket and childrens meal it was very noticeable that there was a poor amount of filling in the potato. The children's meal was a small spoon of mash 2 sausages some Carrots and no gravy, the mash had hair in it and had to be sent back. When the pub classic was brought out I was shocked at the poor portion size and questioned this, yes I did count the chips. There were 14. The chicken was not smothered in bbq sauce and it was burnt on the bottom where it had been on a grill. The children's meal took an additional 20 minutes to come back out after being told it would only take a few minutes by the server. When it did come out it the mash was triple the portion and clearly over microwaved. There was one sausage this time, but we did have gravy. It was such a dissapointment considering we arrived before the rush. We've had so many lovely meals here but today has quite possibly put us off any...
Read moreReally lovely pub and has great staff most the time. Last visit one of the waiters was very helpful helping me and my partner take my daughters pram outside. However, we had booked a table but decided to sit outside which we were told was fine and that we could sit anywhere. Went to sit on the tables on the concrete due to my daughters pram. A lady who I assume was the manager came out telling us after a little while these tables had been reserved, turned out the paper stating this had blown away therefore we wouldnât have known this. She was very dismissive and at the time we were feeding my newborn daughter and completely unsettled her having to move. We also stated that we had ordered to the table and her response was âit will find youâ which I donât think is appropriate at all. The food did arrive and actually went to the reserved table - I feel as though the woman couldâve said something to the waitress to let her know. I appreciate the table was reserved however a bit of decency and maybe giving us time to move wouldâve gone a long way as we then spent the whole meal trying to calm...
