Dined here for dinner with family a few weeks ago.
We ordered a bottle of wine and before the waitress arrived with the bottle I noticed a live spider sat in my wine glass moving around, trying to escape. This wasn’t ideal and so when the waitress arrived with the wine she had to go switch out my glass for another one. There wasn’t any apology, she just said “oh right ok” and swapped the glass. Not the best start to our evening, knowing insects are climbing freely around the glassware.
The second issue we faced was when the main course arrived. Whilst waiting for the rest of the food to arrive on the table a live caterpillar starting crawling out from my side salad and across my plate of food. I had ordered the fillet steak and everything is all on the one plate. Again not ideal, the second insect in the space of an hour. When the waiter returned with the rest of the food we gave him the plate with the caterpillar on and he returned to the kitchen. He did say “sorry about that” and took the plate away but not really the best apology you could have given in that scenario. We even made the comment, that we weren’t having the best luck tonight, first a spider and now a caterpillar.
So a few minutes later my food was returned to me, I don’t know what they changed, whether anything at all, it wasn’t explained whether I had a fresh plate or fresh salad I was just told “careful the plate is hot”. Clearly the food wasn’t made again because it was only a few minutes which had passed.
Come the end of the meal we were presented with the bill. There were no allowances made for the two incidents above and the tip was already included in the bill. I am disappointed that as a business you didn’t think that my experience was below par and therefore thought it acceptable to charge me full price for my fillet steak, and also include the tip. The hygiene of your restaurant has seriously been called into question by these incidents and your staff’s attitude towards them so I am surprised.
My elderly mother paid cash, not realising the tip was already included as we had planned to not leave a tip, which I am sure you can understand.
We waited over 10minutes for her change but that didn’t appear. We had to ask for it, and that was then returned to us, minus the tip. I do believe your intention was to keep the change which would have been a tip of £15, already included and paid in error, and then a further £15 which was the change we had to ask for.
All in all a disappointing experience with you. Rather than going straight to leaving a negative review I did actually email the restaurant all of the above, as I thought this was a more productive way to give feedback but to date I have received no response...
Read moreRead the reviews and thought we'd give this place a try. Looks are most certainly deceiving! Initially it looks good but, on closer inspection, becoming tired. Chips out of the melamine on several tables where we were sat and the boards under the bench seating were very grubby, really in need of a coat of paint. Also, it always seems to me that a restaurant is at least trying too hard, but probably realistically, desperately trying to remain relevant by endless loops of mundane, blasé bar tunes. It certainly didn't add to the experience, just annoyed.
On the subject of where we were sat, we walked into a restaurant that was at best one third capacity, leaving lots of spare tables , were we sat at an empty area? Of course not, we were shoehorned in-between two other couples. In the current climate I'd say it was very optimistic to describe the distance between customers as 1 metre. Such was the lack of distance between tables I have a very in-depth knowledge of the business dealings of the young man and his client sat to my right. However, this wasn't what I went into a restaurant for.
Oh yes, the food. My burger was distinctly average, my partner's Chicken Alfredo (Penne Pollo Alfredo) was far far too rich, I know it's a cream, garlic and wine sauce but far far too much garlic, cream and very little evidence of wine. My partner was unable to eat it. This restaurant was trying to be modern and trendy.... It wasn't, and the fact that they had city centre bar tunes playing did not justify the price paid for the very average to poor food.
Good insta fodder if you're into that kind of thing but I go into a restaurant for nice food in a relaxing environment, sadly The Coast at Prestbury failed us on...
Read moreI am really sorry to have to write this review but I feel a constructive feedback is needed here. We visited last Saturday night and we were really looking forward to visit this place after the good reviews we have read on Chesirelife.co.uk. The first impression when you arrive is "WoW". Great atmosphere and great menu content it make you anticipate a high quality interpretation of italian food. Being an Italian who has been living in Uk for 10 years and visited a lot of restaurants over the Country I have to say that this has been the worst food experience I had so far. I didn't made a complain becuase I felt that there was not one thing that was right food wise.
Starters Calamari were soft and stringy. Prawns were floating on a watery sauce. Mains Pizza was mushy and the dough wasn't like a pizza base. The tuna was in water and not olive oil. When you grab a slice of pizza it fell apart, soggy. Wrong olives used and the tomato sauce tasted bland. Carbonara, was overcooked and just full of double cream Dessert 3 flavours of different ice cream literally tasted the same. Guys you really need to make sure your menu to match the...
