Nice place and only a few steps away from Swanage Seafront. Good selection of in store baked pastries and cakes to eat in and to take out. Great place for a quick snack. A good selection of coffee and tea is available. Do not be fooled by only a few tables and chairs upstairs as there is more seating downstairs. This place can get very busy in particular during holiday time and lunchtime. Sadly I was not given permission to take a picture but then again it was quite busy and I will try when visiting next time (I live in Poole so it's only a few miles and I visit Swanage on a more or less regular basis) and outside busy hours. Prices are quite low for a place that is so close to the beach. Please be aware that the prices for eating in are slightly higher than if you take your items out with you but you will find that this is quite common wherever you go. I can only recommend "the Cornish Bakery" in particular if you like fresh Cornish Pastries. Only slight disappointment is that disabled access is limited as there is a step (relatively low) to get in to the shop and facilities are in the basement so if you are in a Wheelchair or have difficulty walking you may find it a bit difficult and there is not enough space to accommodate a wheelchair in the seating area (but the seafront only a few steps away with plenty of outdoor space) However there are other places very close by that have better access. Disabled parking is only a few steps away and you find good and clean facilities at the seafront if needed. I am walking disabled and look always out for access and facilities. I personally do not think that it is a major issue with the limited access but it is different from person to person and their particular needs. I hope you enjoy your visit and find my reviews a useful addition...
Read moreThe few spare tables had dirty crockery (ok, they were busy). I asked for coconut milk latte, to be told coconut milk was for cold drinks only. I paid for my order to be given the 2 scones that i asked for, at least expecting butter. I had to ask for butter and jam. When I asked again for the butter I was told they didn't have any. I asked for a full refund. I was initially refunded for the scones. I had to ask for my drink to be refunded too, even though I asked for a full refund. After placing an order I would expect to be asked if I wanted jam (the server knew we were eating in the cafe). But to be told, after I placed my order and paid that there was no butter is not what I would expect. Some of you may comment about "oh it's only butter" or similar are missing the point. It was the lack of / poor communication from the server that I was not happy with. Communication that should take place prior to asking...
Read moreCame today for the first time with my husband, the pasty’s looked like nice. Ordered two to eat in, it took ages! The waitress came out and asked what we were waiting for, so we reminded her, she apologised and said they’d muddled up all the tickets. When food arrived, it was soo lukewarm, but the next bite was stone cold! So I asked mine to be reheated, to her credit, she offered me a new one immediately, but after waiting for the fresh one, the pastry was hot, piping hot, but the middle was still lukewarm, as a pregnant lady It’s really important to eat food that’s cooked all the way through, I really wasn’t confident, so I left it half eaten.
I’ve no idea if service is usually Like this, but I was so...
