I really fancied a Wimpy today. It has been many years since having the opportunity to walk into a branch. Unfortunately I didn't get an opportunity to seat due to a rude reception today. As you enter the store the menu is behind the door. I was asked if I was eating in or taking out, having taken a glance around an seeing there was plenty of seating available I politely replied that I'd like to eat in.

I'm very said to say this is where the experience takes a turn and I'll let you make your own judgements. I want to point out that I'm a solo diner on this occasion and maybe that's why I hope for the best when entering a dining establishment at this time.

So, I pull the door slightly to get a better look at the menu. At which point I hear "table for one then" and the pitch of the tone tells me that somethings about to happen. Next thing, and it's not always what is said it's the way it is delivered, "can you sanitise your hands". I believe this was cause I'd had the audacity to touch the door handle.

Before I had a chance to try and reply I could feel myself thinking "you wouldn't speak to a couple/group like that". I have no doubt my out of town accent didn't help. I decided to leave it and now wonder when I might next get a chance to experience Wimpy's culinary delights.

Please, please, please, if you must insist on instructing or guiding your patrons in any way, do it politely. I'm not going to be spoken to like that when I'm trying to spend money with an establishment.

Looking at all the positive reviews massively adds to the disappointment. It's not right. I'm a polite person. Is trying to order food whilst being by myself such a crime?

I'm sorry I have to write such a review, however really want my...

Surreal experience...

Maybe we were just unlucky, but not a great experience. Decided to give our business to Wimpy in Swanage.

At the entrance we were told to put on our masks. Fair enough, though it was completely empty. We were asked for contact details ( Covid I assume ), but only one of us was, which was odd. Our personal details were hand written into a book. Not very secure from a Data Protection point of view. The book contents were visible to me and left unattended.

Shown to a table by the waitress who DID wear her face mask all the time. Unlike the 'chef' who's was off his nose, all the time. And the 'manager'(?) who appeared to do very little but pace up and down the restaurant and did not wear one most of the time. This was really disconcerting and probably the worst aspect of our visit.

The food was ok - just ok. It looked rather sad. It had no soul. The cutlery was provided in a pile, not really given to us.

About two thirds of the way through our lone meal, staff started stacking chairs on tables. It was over an hour before the official closing time, but the message was clear. We were not that important - closing up was.

Odd to be given a hand written bill.

2 stars for the waitress who did most of the work. 1 for the others.

A sad and depressing visit.

Won't be back. No wonder it's always nearly...

Well we went for nostalgia because we used to have so many good Wimpy's back in the day. Well food arrived after ordering it was horrid to eat no taste reheated frozen ingredients made my partner feel ill later that day. Kids meal was meant to be of a decent size same with our meals. Nothing like advertised or described. Very expensive for the rubbish served. Place was on the dirty side. Even waiting outside for a table to be ready when we where asked to seat everything felt sticky and dirty. Cutlery was dirty when brought to the table.

The whole experience was a nightmare. Staff where to quick and kind of rude to get you in and out . Upon paying absolutely no manners please or thank yous from the cashier.

I do not recommend this place another shame for Swanage and a waste of space. Guess the town business owners know they are in for a quick buck because they think no one will return. WRONG WAY GOING ABOUT THINGS as happy customers return and give more business back.

VERY...

Don’t get much of a chance to visit a Wimpy, but food is always good so sometimes worth the trip. Nice friendly greeting, we were the only ppl in the restaurant as it was just before lunch time, food was very quick to arrive and was lovely. While eating the waiting staff went from 1 to 6 I would think for lunch cover. We finished our food still the only ones in the restaurant, yet for some reason the staff were now spending their time discussing social activities. Near on thirty minutes went past, while we sat there looking at our empty plates. I stacked the plates, ask whether I should take them over; but instead opted for putting them on to the next table. This did trigger a response and someone came over. By this time we had to be leaving so we never got dessert. 1 = poor 10 = excellent Welcome 10 Atmosphere NA Cleanliness 8 Speed of serve 9 Attentiveness 2 Food quality 9 Value for money 9 Drinks 10

Took a trip to Swanage just to go to this Wimpy! As we're a South African family, we had to try it and see if it was as good as the Wimpy restaurants in SA. It did not disappoint! The milkshakes were amazing and the food was different to the SA menu but still mouthwateringly good! I ordered a vegetarian Quorn burger (and I'm very grateful they had it as an option) and when it arrived I was convinced it was actually chicken. My dad then tried it and thought it was too but the chef himself happily confirmed it was veggie. The burger was so brilliantly seasoned that the fake patty fooled both a vegetarian and a meat-eater. Very friendly staff and definitely would make the trip again! Thank you Wimpy UK!

I visited Wimpy in Swanage on Saturday 3 October 2020 at lunchtime. I was with one other person. What a blast from the past but wow! The restaurant comprises of one medium sized main dining area with several tables with full table service. The team were very friendly and welcoming and I had no issues - we got everything we expected in good time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food arrived hot, was well presented and tasted really good. There was a good selection of food and I found something that appealed to me easily. The food was good value for money. Overall I really enjoyed my visit and would definitely come and visit again when I'm next in the area.
