We arrived last Friday and walked down Saturday to try a very hot lovely Cornish pasty and the kids had a sausage roll and to say it was all lovely. We tried the Cornish ice-cream from the ice-cream van again all lovely good flavours especially the rum and raisin. We went to st Michael’s mount on the Monday and noticed a Cornish pasty at one of the shops which wasn’t great at all so that evening I popped in to see if you had any when I got are fish & chips, and kids meals to bring back to are camp site but unfortunately you had nothing left by 6pm so I brought a cream tea to make up for it 😊 Yesterday we went to looe and tried 3 different shops for a Cornish and one was ok but the other two wasn’t as great. You guys definitely have the best Cornish pasty’s for us and I will be back for a few before I leave Sunday 😊 Polite friendly staff

Slowest wait for an overpriced and too small takeaway coffee ever. Main kitchen menu wasn't available as kitchen wasn't open at 11:45am! No kitchen opening menu board, means you've asked your kids what they want, built up their expectations, then get let down with a "the kitchen is closed sorry". So I only tried the pasties and sausage roll, which are your standard retail catering fodder. Which will go cold while you wait for your coffee. Atmosphere was being surrounded by a growing group of people getting increasingly frustrated at the wait for their coffee. Girl at the front counter was heard to say "wow its so busy today", this was a sunny Saturday on half term ... who'd have guessed it was going to be busy eh? Only half of the coffee machine was working so I will revist in August 2023 and revise.

London Prices and Unfortunately London Attitude

We always enjoy returning to our home village, but sadly this near perfect visit was impacted by the attitude in this establishment, a tone more suited to London than down on the Rame Peninsula.

I ordered one fish & chips, two sausage & chips, and a small toy, paying £30 yet was given no receipt and no prices were displayed (the digital board was off). No transparency or way to verify the charge but we work on trust.

After about 15 minutes, only one sausage & chips was delivered. I pointed out the mistake and explained I had asked for two (one for each child). The server insisted I only ordered one, though when ordering the sausages I was asked whether I wanted “adult or child portions". To me, that suggested she had heard the order as two.

I requested the second portion be rushed out so the children could eat together. At that point, a young man emerged from the kitchen, was told the issue, and said bluntly: “You'll need to go to the back of the queue and order again.” The shop was busy, and that solution was neither practical nor polite.

He further insisted I had ordered only one, despite not being present at the time, which felt presumptuous. No attempt was made to accommodate or even apologise.

Eventually, an older lady came out to see what was going on. I overhead the same young man stating: “He only ordered one,” which was inaccurate and only increased my frustration with the establishment.

I accept that mistakes happen, but a little grace and customer focus would have smoothed things over. Instead, I encountered rigidity, poor communication, and no customer care.

Stone‑cold pricing with no receipt, London‑level cost for smaller fish portions than I get in Richmond, and a shrug in response to a simple request. This attitude is not what Cawsand should reflect, maybe if had not developed a London accent it would have...

The Cove at Cawsand ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had the absolute pleasure of visiting The Cove at Cawsand, and I can honestly say it was one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve had in a long time.

The location itself is stunning—nestled right by the sea, the atmosphere is peaceful, welcoming, and genuinely picturesque. The food was outstanding, especially the fish and chips, which were fresh, tasty, and served in very generous portions. The menu was clearly displayed on a screen, and the pricing was surprisingly reasonable, especially for the size and quality of the side portions.

Inside, the shop was immaculately clean and well-organized. The same goes for the food area and even the ice cream freezer, which was spotless and beautifully presented. The outside seating area was equally impressive—clean, comfortable, with cushions provided, and regularly tidied by attentive staff.

Speaking of the staff, they were exceptional across the board—cheerful, polite, and genuinely happy to help. All staff members stood out for their kindness, professionalism, and clear dedication to great customer service. It’s rare to see such enthusiasm and care in every interaction.

There are also lovely little touches throughout the shop—from toys for the kids to water sports gear and even tasteful jewellery stands. Everything felt thoughtfully chosen and well-priced.

Overall, it was an absolutely brilliant day out. The atmosphere, the food, the friendliness, and the attention to detail all made for a perfect experience. I genuinely can’t...
