Avoid !! I took my mum and son out for lunch on Sunday before my son leaves for work abroad and it was the worst experience I have had while eating out . The welcome left a lot to be desired ,the staff have no customers skills and make you feel as though you are a burden . We ordered 2 Sunday lunches and an ale pie . After waiting over an HOUR and others around us eating who had clearly arrived after us I went to the bar to ask where are lunch was as we had been clearly forgotten ! A member of staff came over and said it was just being plated up ( convenient that ! ) after waiting another 10 mins our food arrived . I had ordered my mums roast without gravy and it arrived covered in gravy when I told the waiter instead of being apologetic and just taking it back he argued that it wasn’t written on the ticket no gravy . I should of left at this point and asked for my money back but I didn’t want to upset my sons day . My mum then waited and waited for her lunch again only for it to arrive with a couple lumps of pork that were clearly left over as I imagine they had run out . The crown is not cheap £9.99 for a roast and our bill was £41 for a main meal for 3 and 3 soft drinks . I would of had a nicer meal going to west bay for fish and chips and better customer service ....
Read moreThe food we had was good but very expensive for what it was. Pub was busy and the barmaid started to take our order when a local walked in so she proceeded to serve him before carrying on with our order. Not a huge crime but just not right. I don't expect or want 'kiss my boots' type customer service like a lot of people seem to but equally I don't like to be made to feel unwelcome either. The barmaid Cheryl? wasn't the happiest of souls (picture bulldog chewing a wasp) and there were a lot of local 'birds, booze and footie' type hillbillies in the place. Maybe it's the wetherspoons overspill or worse still maybe they're all banned from wetherspoons? 😳. The landlord barges through the pub with a pitbull and what looks like a bear that's been rescued from a Turkish street entertainer but apparently it's a dog. All three were snarly and not pleasant on the eyes. The Turkish dog/bear thing tried to attack one of the hillbillies dogs but few of the hillbillies took their eyes off the football, so can only assume it's a common occurrence but a bit unnerving for the few grockles in there. In a nutshell, if you like a wetherspoons type pub in terms of clientele but with a 70's theme in terms of decor and have bistro money to spend try the crown, it...
Read moreThis is a true locals pub but the food was scrumptious and the service by the barmen and chef was fantastic!
I had the Ham egg and chips.. it was a large portion and very yummy!
My husband had the sausages, mash and peas which he said was very good!
My daughter had the spaghetti bol which she wasn't keen on but she also had the garlic baguette with cheese which we all had to admit was by far the best garlic bread we have ever had!!
For pudding I had a banoffee style pudding which the chef had made up that day and explained to me and I had to try it and it was absolutely delicious!
My husband had the rhubarb pie and custard which again he absolutely loved.
The little lady had the syrup sponge and ice cream which the chef drizzled extra syrup on as she mentioned how much she loved syrup.
It's so nice to meet such lovely people running a local pub. You could tell by some of the patrons and the way they are looked after that they truly look after all their customers!
Thank you for a...
