Visited on 12th April for breakfast. Was recommended by a customer already eating that the Two fried eggs with salad greens & buttered sourdough toast With peanut rāyu £11.50 plus portion of bacon extra My husband had Soulshine baked beans with tomatoes, paprika, olive oil & garlic on sourdough toast £8 plus eggs and bacon extra. 1 coffee and 1 Kombucha total bill £41.85 We were told there would be a 30 minute wait. We said that would be fine. We waited and waited for our food. Drinks finished. After 40 minutes we asked one of the servers if our food was coming. She said she would check. She never returned so I went to the till now 50 minutes of waiting to be told it would be out shortly. No apology given for the delay. When I pointed out that another table had received there food before us but had placed there order a good 15 minutes after us I was told very abruptly that that wasn't true. But we knew it was. Eventually it arrived just over 50 minutes from ordering, again no apology My meal was dreadful. Burnt toast and hard dry eggs. I didn't eat it all. My husband was okay he said but again his eggs were hard not runny. When we were leaving I took my half eaten plate to the till and said that was the worst breakfast I've ever had explaining the problems and waited just over 50 minutes for the privilege. She said sorry what would I like? I suggested a £5 refund ( the cost of my Kombucha drink) She said she was unable to do a refund as I paid by card!!!! I'm sure you'd agree that £41.85 is expensive for 2 breakfast and 2 drinks and I would have expected better quality of cooking and service especially as we waited very patiently ( not making a scene) for over 50 minutes Then to be told that a £5 refund was not possible This made my short break away and wanting to try something new to eat a very bad choice. I do hope the owner will reply...
Read moreWe have eaten Andy's food since his days as Head Chef down at River Cottage HQ. We have been on his courses, I did some work experience with him down at River Cottage and have basically become somewhat of a stalker!! I own the Popup Kitchen in Lyme Regis and I was blessed to have Andy and Joel (Goose & Badger) at the Popup Kitchen for a few months. They had a massive following and decided to make the leap into getting their own premises in Bridport.
They could not have found anywhere better, the vibe of the place is incredible. They have an incredible team who make you feel totally welcome and special.
Last night we decided to treat ourself to a meal and it was just the best night, food, wine and service. We ate oysters, incredible steak and vegetables to die for. All you need is the vegetable dishes and you still feel that you have died and gone to heaven. We are also very fortunate that they have taken on our daughter as their apprentice and she has never been happier because of the whole team.
You guys are super super special and great things are happening. You know how gushy I get with you guys, but it is for good reason. Absolutely...
Read moreWarned that with a 6pm sitting that we would need to be finished by 7.30. Arrived on time. Were slowed to be served. Found the portion size was very small for the price. Eaten here many times before and always been delighted.
The cod this evening was particularly small for the £18 price tag. Cabbage side was £9….they serve ‘tapas’ style but their portion sizes have massively reduced. Madness.
Due to the slowness of their service, our guest didn’t have much time to eat desert. Only one of us out of 4 had desert - the apple crumble - which was also disappointing. Warm - not hot, and crumble was terrible - a sprinkling if anything. Needed more for sure. You can’t call a crumble a crumble without the crumble!!
The bill presented was £240 and on checking it, discovered they’d over charged us by £100.
They also gave us the bill before the end of the meal stating that we had to leave by 7:30 - we didn’t HAVE to go anywhere, but they wanted up out for the next sitting. No apology given. Didn’t thank us for eating there, really sullen waitress.
I was...
