We were recommended to eat lunch here at The Duke of Wellington by one of the locals we met in the street. Great value, piping hot food, served promptly and with a friendly smile! Thank you especially to Susie who made my mum and dad feel very welcome. The ham, egg and chips were really tasty as was the scampi. Lagers and beer were also great! We all really enjoyed our delicious food and a nice window seat. We will definitely visit again and recommend this super pub!

Came in for steak night for the first time. Considering a busy night, food came out quick and it was really good. I opted for an extra rump steak with peppercorn sauce and a pink of Coke and it only set me back £20.80. Great value for money, great atmosphere and great tasting food

Friendly staff, excellent beer selection, occasional quizzes. The DoW feels like the kind of pub which you'd be happy to have as your local. Looking forward to visiting again, maybe with a quiz team...

Well this was the first pub I discovered when visiting Wareham earlier this year. ||||and since then I always popped in lunch time and early evenings if alone. ||||Not this time ...||||Saturday evening was a real mixture and mellow atmosphere warming up for a live music evening for the Halloween weekend. ||The costume event was just getting started it was amazing. ||Yes dogs are always welcomed and families are always present because the local positive energy is just energising. ||||The smiles the hellos are just just so unique... ||||ESSENTIAL TIP ||No one will bother you unless you say hello and good evening first because privacy is respected. ||Parking is available behind this traditional ale house and the interiors are VERY CLEAN and cosy, fire place, eating area and stools around the bar its full of options.||||Its all about fresh local food and a great service. ||||How can you explain a tight ship just go and see it for yourself its not disappointing. ||I shared the nachos and the portions are generous and high quality pub grub - I was impressed with the value for money serving.||||So lets be clear it is a traditional pub with an amazing heart - ||yep real people not posers and after a hard day or you feel isolated, like me based in a hotel, just get down there. ||||There is always a meal deal in the evenings. ||||Thanks to the Duke of Wellington I find Wareham...

Popped in here with the family on a Sunday afternoon after finding everything else in the town closed. Found a table and just sat down as a woman (presumably Manager or Landlady) came up to us and said 'I hope you're not expecting food', clearly annoyed that we had come in as a party of 6. We replied saying we were rather hoping for some lunch. She then went onto say, without hesitation, 'The kitchen is closed'.... 'we've run out of food... Everything is sold out'. As we were leaving we saw people eating and fresh meals being brought out. You'd think in the current climate with hospitality on the verge of being closed again, an independent pub would be glad of all the custom...

Visited for lunch with high expectations. Arrived to a dreary bar area. Waiter was busy taking bookings and only acknowledged our presence after 5 minutes. Awful pop music playing in the background. The menu was limited and most of it was school lunch food. No table service, one waiter/barlady for the entire pub who was particularly grumpy, not to mention the chef who had zero hygiene, gloves, and looked very scruffy indeed. The chicken breast was undercooked and the vegetables had been reheated, steak pie was good. Very poor experience overall and we shall not...
