Awful experience. We waited 50 minutes for our lunch which never arrived. We politly informed the manager who without an apologie brought over a wooden board with an opened can of sardines dried out bread, cold and disgusting looking onion rings with dried out ketchup. When we informed the manger that we did not order this he aggressively questioned us on what we did order. Needless to say we paid and left. Clearly this is not a pub that wants to do well but if you after a bit of slapstick fawlty tower comedy with a touch of food poisoning on the side by all means venture in. It was very friendly and welcoming, the people behind the bar were very chatty and as a stranger made me feel very welcome. The beer was very good, although it was a little more expensive than I am used to, but that didn't matter as I had such a great visit. There is plenty of parking, and a disabled space near the front door. There is no food available, there would be a lot of competition locally. It is a proper, friendly traditional English style pub. Read moreWe (three muddy cyclists) arrived last Sunday after a long ride looking for a few beers and a roast. A lot of pubs are sniffy about cyclists but they couldn't have been more welcoming, they opened up the storeroom so we could stow the bikes and got some cushions from the outdoor furniture for us to sit on so we could sit inside without getting everything muddy.
We had the Sunday roast which was great value for a tenner, generois helpings and really good rare roast beef, very well cooked. The ale was also excellent, clearly well kept and also reasonably priced. Would happily have stayed there all day if we could. Cant recommend...
