This little coffee shop has been around for a while in Hexham with various owners. I went recently and was blown away by the tasty choices for food and drink. I was a bit spoilt for choice as it has offers beyond the usual âboring cafe style foodâ.
I had two of the specials at the time - the honey whipped iced coffee (so good I think it needs to be a permanent feature on their daily menu) Iâve never had such a delicious flavoured coffee. I also had the Thai butternut squash and coconut soup. Again, this was so delicious and tasty. Not too spicy but a little Thai style kick and plenty of flavour. I then had eyes bigger than my stomach as spotted the Apricot flapjack on the counter and couldnât resist. This was buttery, and yummy and the apricot added something sweet and different. The cafe itself is looking a little tired (sorry to say) HOWEVER, DO NOT let this put you off. Itâs got a wonderful outdoor space and the food/drink DEFINITELY does the talking for this little hidden gem of a place. Service was cheerful, efficient and polite. Well...
Read moreWe had tomato soup, scrambled eggs on toast, and a pot of tea. The soup tasted like a can of tomatoes from a supermarket heated up in a microwave, with a touch of added garlic. The scrambled eggs should have been light and fluffy, instead they were hard and solid and the bowl they came in was cold. The bread that came with the soup looked like the cheapest possible supermarket bread, hold it at one end and it just bends down (you know what I mean). Finally, the tea was so weak that it was undrinkable. I should have sent the whole lot back, but I did not want to make my companion feel uneasy. I wondered why it was the only cafe in Hexham that was quiet at that time. Now I know. I thought 'they absolutely take no pride in their work'. I would have been embarrassed at serving this up to paying customers. I...
Read moreWhat an absolutely gorgeous café. The atmosphere was incredibly relaxing and comfortable. All the staff were so lovely and accommodating - they went above and beyond to meet customers' needs, we even got to try an extra bagel. The coffee was delicious - made very well and beautifully strong. The bagels tasted incredible - all fresh ingredients, and I couldn't believe they were gluten-free. It was so nice eating somewhere safe for coeliacs. I certainly recommend for anyone visiting Hexham. Update: went to the Yoga Breakfast morning, and all I can say is wow! Without a doubt, the best porridge I have ever had in my life! Delicious! It was a chai spiced porridge with bananas and blueberries, and it was utter perfection. The staff were very helpful and friendly again too. An excellent...
