I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional experience we had at Cilantro on September 7, 2024. With only a short notice, I needed a top-notch restaurant near the location of my proposal at the Hexham Bandstand. I reached out to Cilantro and spoke with Nabs, who went above and beyond to accommodate us. Despite our tardiness, Nabs secured us fantastic seats and ingeniously kept my girlfriend entertained at the till while I prepared for the proposal. She fondly recalls how Nabs played around with the touch screen to keep her occupied during those precious minutes.

Ollie’s recommendation of the lamb curry with peshwari naan was spot-on, and Izzie made us feel incredibly welcomed with her warm service. The restaurant’s beautiful decor and elevated ambiance enhanced our experience, and the food was truly delicious. There is so much to say about this restaurant, all of it great.

There is nothing I would say that needs to change, the staff are polite, attentive, well trained,

Front of house could walk into any restaurant in the world and not be out of place.

Then there is the food.

This is the best curry experience I've ever had bar none.

We were in a large group to celebrate a birthday and we ordered the set menu which included 2 veggies and a Catholic who doesn't eat meat on a Friday.

The set meal was just incredible.

The variety of plates, the quality and the way they were all timed to arrive was perfection.

Oh, and the onion bhaji's were the best I've ever had and the peshwari naan should be at the very top of your list of things to try.

For a set menu, the amount of food offered is astonishing and I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.

I would like to say a big thank you to Cilantro who hosted our wedding breakfast here on Christmas Eve they did a superb job. We wanted something different to a hotel reception and so pleased we chose them. From agreeing a menu, drinks, seating, setting up decorations, sorting out the playlist before the day when we arrived we just had to relax and enjoy with all our guests. The food was fantastic, the service brilliant and they made it really special. As the bride I was so pleased to see everyone having a lovely time and so many people have said afterwards it was one of the best Indian meals they had ever had. If you are ever in the Hexham area then you must book and have a fantastic meal with them and if you live here book it for a family/friends event as it's so lovely.
