Regarding your policy to not give out extra plates to cool childrenās meals which are served piping hot, but charge Ā£1.50 for the privilege! If this is your policy, although you give no clear reason as to why.......? May I suggest that you consider serving Childrenās meals on a larger plate so it can be spread out rather than telling customers they can have a napkin! This is neither good customer service, nor hygienic. Although the childrenās portion sizes are adequate they are served piled on a plate which is the size of a side plate. When eating out you should not expect to have to take your own plate in order for your child to eat safely. Also, I have just viewed your childrenās menu on your website and there is infact no mention of your policy.
In response to your response
It would just be nice if your customers knew exactly what they are paying for. I know your not going to agree because you clearly believe you are always right, but taking constructive criticism on board is a good quaility to have
.
Itās not clearly stated on the childrenās menu as already pointed out. You were not asked to change the rule for one. It may not be a hidden charge but the reason why you charge for the use of an empty plate is hidden. And to be quite honest your completely missing the main point which was a suggestion to review the way in which you serve your childrenās meals. I didnāt ask for a social media issue I was simply writing a review of my experience on this occasion as the website allows and you chose to reply. I am not disputing that the food is good, Iāve eaten there many times and not had a bad meal. Finally, my comments were constructive not belligerent but I donāt believe you will ever agree that any constructive criticism is warranted due to your attitude of always having to be right. This is evident from a number of other reviews on this page. End of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe worst experience, wouldn't go back! Asked for a Sunday lunch without mash and Yorkshire's was told this wasn't possible so asked for a child's dinner so there wouldn't be as much mash. Asked for an extra portion of veg and was told couldn't pay for an extra portion.
Got my dinner and the mash was extraordinarily big for a child's portion. I then asked for a separate plate to put the mash and yorkshire on and was told it would be £1.50!!!!! For an empty plate. Paid the £1.50 (more fool me), and put my mash and yorkshire on the plate to allow for my mashed broccoli and three carrots!
THEN the manageress came storming out the kitchen, picked my bag up off the third chair at our table, dumped it on the floor and removed the third chair and put it at the table next to us where a couple was sat (who told us no one extra was joining them).
They then pushed it back to our table......for the manager then to come out, pick the chair up again and put it at a different table. This is all happening whilst eating our dinner!!!!
Absolute disgrace and won't be returning until under new management who can accept and cater to all types of needs! Should be ashamed of themselves!
As seen below the response is as expected, doesn't know how to use proper grammar either, which is even worse. Goes to show you can't always educate people, or educate people in the way of exceptional customer service. Horrendous. (Obviously never owned a designer handbag either). I'm surprised you are still "busy" with that attitude. Read it properly, then come to me with a proper explanation as to why you were so rude!! All I'm hearing is excuses ....and really, you own it? Dear god if this is the way you treat people I hope you find yourself out of business. Well the EI Group will find themselves out of business as they are the real owners aren't...

Go to the gables quite often but today was the worst experience I have ever witnessed (nothing on my part but even so) there was a lady in her 60s with her mum who was hard of hearing, she wanted to sit in a particular place due to the speakers interfering with her mums hearing aid. She sat at the table and the OWNER of the pub asked her to move tables because that particular one needed cleaning, the women tried to explain that her mum needed to sit there as it was quieter but the OWNER of the pub still made her move to a different table right under a speaker, the lady tried to explain to the OWNER again to which she replied I know what itās like to wear a hearing aid my daughters deaf!!! The lady was spoken to appalling. The poor lady was quite upset! About 10 minutes later a table became free in the quiet area so the lady moved to it to which the OWNER came out of the kitchen again and publicly embarrassed her by saying you canāt sit there it needs to be cleaned and in her words āif you donāt like where Iāve sat you, go to Asda buy your food and cook it yourselfā the lady and her mum who had really bad mobility were quite clearly upset by this and the OWNERs attitude as was myself. There was no reason the two ladies could not sit where they wanted too after the table had been cleaned and no one came in and sat there the whole time we were there. For the owner to speak to someone like that is absolutely disgraceful. To say she runs a pub she has no manners, no respect and certainly no customer service skills, oh and to make things a 100% worse she is working in the kitchen with a big moon boot on a big health and safety risk! She certainly needs bringing down a peg or twoā¦.disgusting behaviours. I certainly will not...
