We booked our table to celebrate our fifty fourth wedding anniversary in the Grosvenor restaurant pub for Saturday the first of February, at seven pm . I was advised to book because it gets quite busy at the weekend. I rang twice it was an answer phone giving you the website to book your table . I didn’t like this much as I left my details on it and was told they would get back to me but they never? Anyway , I was told to arrive at least fifteen minutes before as you could loose your table if it was busy . We arrived at ten minutes to and there was quite a few in. Our table was not far from the bar. It was pointed to but really attentive staff who couldn’t do enough for us. We looked at the extensive menus before settling for scampi and chips with garden peas for my wife , and I chose gammon with chips eggs and pineapple with garden peas. It said have double gammon for £3 extra which I’m glad I did. I went to the bar and ordered our meals. I got my wife a glass of water and ice as she doesn’t drink and I got a bottle of mixed fruit cider with ice. I asked which brandys they had and was disappointed as they only had one Remy. I said I’d have a double with no ice and was told he had to go out the back as the bottle was empty? I took our drinks over and the barman brought the brandy to our table. We were opening our cards and presents off people when about ten minutes later our meals arrived. I got up for some sauces on a table to my left. We were soon took in to our meals which were beautifully cooked to perfection. I had a massive steak plate and I managed every bit . It was delicious. My wife doesn’t eat a lot but she looked at the deserts and couldn’t resist one of her favourites, home made apple pie and custard. I couldn’t move after my main so I opted out of a desert. We sat talking until I finished my drink , then I went up to the bar to pay my bill. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn’t expensive and I quickly tipped our waiter ( bar man) I thanked the staff for an enjoyable meal and said we would come back again. Our taxi came in five minutes and I had just got to the door , after putting on my over coat and scarf and hat. We went home discussing how nice an evening we had and would definitely recommend it to other people if you’re looking for a good meal and lovely restaurant, food and staff and not to...
Read moreMy Wife and myself called in for some food and drinks, the sun was shining so sat outside and ordered from our table to which was full of glasses, empty dirty plates and an overflowing ash tray which was full of beer (well smelt like it) , our drinks came out so we asked if the Lady waitress could clear the table, she took one plate away and left the rest, then our food came out by a male waiter who shouted from a distance who had ordered food and then started to walk away, I asked him what the table number was and it was our food, he placed the food, i asked if we could have some cutlery and he stated we needed to go into the pub to get them, not sure what the point was oredering from our table?? again I asked him to clear the table to include the ash tray as it didnt smell very good so he removed the glasses and left the ash tray? So I removed the ash tray myself and cleaned the table before we ate. We both had chips in separate bowls with our food and they were cold. My steak was full of gristle and fat to which wasn't really edible, so I left it. The pub was not busy, so there no real excuse for the poor service and substandard and cold food. On a positive note, my wife's scampi was good. When our second round of drinks came out with a different male waiter, we told him the chips we cold, and he offered to replace them to which we declined greatfully. We have been in the Grosvener a lot over the last few years, and the first time we have had poor service and food like that, we won't be rushing...
Read moreCame in as a pre booked family of 16 for my brothers 21st on Saturday 29th June. Tables weren’t together but we was more than happy taking the seats outside. All our party arrived for 7.15 and we had been told 45 minute wait for food even though we had pre ordered. The restaurant wasn’t overly busy regardless of the armed forces weekend. The starters came out roughly after about 35-40 minutes but the mains didn’t come out until at least an hour after we had arrived and was served one at a time, the waitress was doing her best but clearly overwhelmed with the sheer amount of meals and not once did anyone working try to help her but had plenty of time to sit and chat with other people anytime one of us entered the bar. The food wasn’t very good, some meals was cold and some didn’t even turn up which we did tell the waitress about despite the fact the owner said we never mentioned it, we did. I’d give zero stars if I could for the fact she tried to belittle my 74 year old grandmother over google reviews. Unprofessional and definitely won’t be eating here again. Would rather of spent our £200 elsewhere with people who aren’t rude and clearly lie to save face. There is plenty of good restaurants in cleethorpes with much friendlier staff so maybe try elsewhere if you party is anything above 2 people.. McDonald’s is only about a 5...
