We eat at the Countryman regularly, but never had Sunday lunch before, so decided to take our friends there, as we had heard good things about it. I noticed on the board behind the bar that they served the beef pink, which is exactly how I like it.
I called and booked, then called back to check that they would still have pink beef at 5 pm, the time we were booking. I was told that absolutely they would have
When we got there and ordered our meals, I checked that the beef was pink. The waitress went to check and came back and told me that, because it was late in the day, the beef was not pink. I was so disappointed, especially as I had phoned and checked. As we were already there, I still ordered the beef. When the meal came, I was not happy. The beef was cut so thin (obviously on a slice), I could almost have seen through it. While the vegetables and potatoes were OK, they were already on the plate, and not in a dish, allowing you to choose, with gravy poured over the meal
My husband felt the same about the beef, and one of my friends, who had the chicken stroganoff, said it was bland.
I have always been happy with the meals at the Countryman, but I will never go there for Sunday...
Read moreIf your shooting for the stars at a resturant option then i wouldn’t shoot for the stars at all. If there was a option to have a negative star review then it would be atleast negative 100.
3 portions of food costs £10 and you are able to clearly see how a large portion of the food was frozen ROCK SOLID. Ordered the chili and it was so light it looks like sick with brown food colouring.
Yorkshire pouding was awful along with the service, its like the workers did not even want to be there with an absaloute abomination of silence. To everyone who recommended the resturant and gave it more than 1 star you should not be able to review any resturant ever.
Servers should of won the award of service with a smile because howly its like they were held at gun point whilst taking the orders. To top it all off the coca cola which is impossible to go wrong with was flat and barely held any flavour as was...
Read moreWhile having short break in Cleethorpes we were Looking for a dog friendly place to eat. Looked on web and found The Countryman. Not much to look at outside, and a typical old style pub inside. Snooker table and darts board. Staff helpful, and we were told of the Tuesday special. £7.95 for 2 courses. My husband and I chose main and dessert. Both had the larger Yorkshire Pudding with sausages, onion gravy and mash with fresh veg. All perfectly cooked. You also got extra gravy. This was a good plateful and it was delicious. For dessert I chose trifle and my husband the banoffee pie. Again, both were delicious. Good wholesome main and tasty desserts. Great value. We will...
