Wonderful place to go for a walk with or without dogs. Great for all ages. You can go for a lovely leisurely walk around the lake and sit on seats around it. There is an opportunity to let dog off lead in a fenced area, which is dog friendly. Dogs have access to the water where they can paddle or swim. For dogs that enjoy retrieving sticks balls etc from the water, then this is the perfect place. Read moreDecent access and carparking available. Good walking, flat, made footpath with seating and picnic type tables around the lake. Good disabled access, and walkways. No toilets that i have seen. Variety of wildfowl on the lake, not just mallards! Reeds beds around some of the lake edges provide a sheltered habitat. Anglers use the lake for sport/recreation. Dedicated Dog Swimming Area, fenced off for that purpose only. So NO rogue fishing tackle to be tangled or swallowed by canines! It is well used. Mix of trees and meadow further out from the lake. Good dog walking. Good for families. Downside :No facilities, non locally other than public houses. could do with the algae clearing from the lake, as it is spreading. They have in years past areated with fountain, but this doesn't seem to be happening this year. (? Money?) Just need to check the suface of the water before you allow your dog to go in, make sure there isnt a blue/green "blush" on the water. This is a type of algae dangerous to dogs if ingested. Always wash your dog after swimming...
Read moreA really lovely place for a peaceful walk or jog! There are walks of different lengths around the park, some on grass, some on tarmac around the lake. There are a couple of small bridges to make it interesting and lots of wildlife....heron, swans, cygnets, ducks, park birds, frogs etc. Dog friendly, with a dedicated dog swimming area, and wheelchair/pushchair friendly. No cafe, but you can take a picnic and drinks yourself. A few big bins dotted around and a lovely Council man who does a fantastic job picking up litter. Shame he has to do it to be honest, but not everyone is thoughtful. Great place to take the kids to let off steam, go bug hunting and play make believe....
