On a recent visit to Luton my husband ( please note this review is written by my husband Pat ) and I visited this bar (Friday 14 th September) we sat at the rear of the premises ...we proceeded to the bar to order food and drinks and at this stage we were told by the bar man (man) that the menus were on the table ... we ordered our drinks totaling over Ā£13.. at this stage we then returned to our seats . Apparently there was an offer where once you buy a meal you are entitled to a drink for Ā£1. We were not offered this by the bar man or made aware of the offer.... We then ordered our meal - for 4 people and proceeded to order another drink and still were not offered the drink for Ā£1... While at the bar for our second drink other members of the public ordered both meals and drinks from the same bar man and guess what they were not offered or asked to avail of the special offer of Ā£1 drinks .... ...?.? At that stage my daughter said she did not like what she had ordered and said she would prefer something else from the menu and my husband went to the bar and ordered a second meal for her and at that stage he was offered āguess what ā Would you like to avail of our offer of any drink for Ā£1 when you order a meal ? My husband ordered a pint with that meal and got it for Ā£1 yippee!! At this stage we had spent almost Ā£100 as there was 4 of us ....but the best is yet to come ....Each time we ordered our drinks we asked for a top up on the mixer which we duly got without issue .... On our last order my wife asked for a top up of the mixer ( a dash of coke) and the bar man asked her for .75p for the xtra dash.... What a man ...he waited for her to return to her seat and get the .75p At this stage I went up to the bar and spoke to a female member of staff and outlined our experience over the evening ... which ended once the bar man asked for the .75p ....the female member of staff was very pleasant and asked if I wished to speak to a manager ...I declined as I could not wait to leave the premises never to return .... this barman was not pleasant and if I owned this premises I would ask him to be a little more welcoming ,pleasant and above all to advise customers of the offers available .... Overall ,not a good experience and as said we spent in the region Ā£100 .... but will be giving this establishment a wide berth on any future visits to the Luton area ... I would recommend you doe the same or at the very least avoid the barman...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent there for my friends birthday meal, we had arranged that we would bring a cake to the pub for the end of our meal, we were greeted by a off shift member of staff, that said she would keep the cake aside as we were told that it couldnāt be kept behind the bar due to covid ruling, so we gave the cake to the member of staff, who was off duty and she then came over to Our table when the birthday people sat down and said very loudly ālet me know when you want the cake and Iāll put the candles on for youā henceforth ruining the suprise for the 2 birthday people that we were celebrating. So firstly that was unprofessional and it was very bad customer service, secondly this annoyed the party as it was a surprise like most birthday cakes are.
When the ladies of the parties wanted to go to the toilet, they had to use the disabled due to the ladies being out of action.
Then we get to the meals, yes we had preordered as there was a big group of us. The plates were hot, and the food wasnāt. One of our party has a cinnamon allergy and was told that thereās nothing They be can do, the waitress that dealt with this just walked off didnāt say anything else;
The people who were celebrating their birthday didnāt enjoy the meals due to the fact they were lukewarm and barely edible.
A few of our younger eaters that accompanied us to the meal, went to the toilet, and was approached by a elderly man, wearing glasses sneering and making inappropriate gestures and comments to them because they were young females. This angered their mum, as this shouldnāt happened to anyones child.
The customer service from Nicky was really professional the only thing about this place that was actually good was the service from Nicky.
As for the rest of the service, and waiting from the staff Here is questionable and from this really bad experience I would not be attending again. Due to the diabolical atmosphere that we have received
I will not recommend this pub for food to anyone. The tables werenāt clean either...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's a very wet and damp night. Street lights on, not a sign of the stars or moon, the meeting I'd just chaired was slow and laberous. It was time to pop in this little gem of a local pub for a pint and a bit of grub. It appears that Wednesday's is a good day to visit, as its burger and chips for a fiver night! BOOM.... Decision made! A little burger and chips on the way home for me and the others from the meeting! Through the packed carpark, making our way past the large outside seating area, the hum drum of a lot of general chatter grew louder as we entered. The beautiful friendly smile of the pretty lady behind the bar made us feel welcomed. As a group of 5 males, she was engaging and served us quickly with a great sense of humour! With 4 meals and 5 pints all ordered, all for around 45 quid, we grabbed the only spare table left. The food arrived within twenty minutes and was nothing short of amazing value! Roxy.... The pretty barmaid with the beautiful smile, came to check in on us, and make sure the food was to our liking! Customer service with a smile! š. What more could we ask for! Now I have no way of proving it, but I think that Roxy could be an experienced barmaid who uses every bit of her experience to provide a great service! We stayed for a while after our meal, as the atmosphere was so enjoyable. It may well have been helpful that the football was on ā½ the big screens too. š Roxy cleared our table, entered into a little banter and left us all with a fantastic impression. Good little welcoming local gem of a pub that turned a rather dull night into a really...
