The Himalaya of Chester-le-Street — Restaurant in England

I would never step foot in this place again! We booked a party of 23 people. Paid £5 per head DEPOSIT which we were told would be deducted from the final bill as it is with any where else you go. When it came to paying for our meal they refused to take the £5 off each persons meal and said the deposit we had paid was a charging fee for the room £115 is very steep to sit in a room and put all the food drinks on top of that! We had to stand and argue the fact what a deposit actually is if we didn't turn up they keep it but every person turned up so there for the deposit should be tuck off the bill as there has been no loss to the company its self in fact they have made money from us and a lot of it! It tuck 4 people to stand and explain what a deposit was for them to eventually after half an hour of arguing and the member of staff repeating him self, (the manager being conveniently on holiday) in front of other paying customers (looks good for business) to say they would in fact give us the money back which was rightfully ours anyway! All meals came out at separate times people were still waiting for there starters when others had already had starters and mains and we were told this was our fault because people wanted individual bills for there family.. when in fact you could quite easily work out we needed 23 starters made first then 23 mains.. yes a large party but if you can not cater for a large party you should not take the booking. It was an absolute joke from start to finish. The meals weren't very nice curry portions are very small we usually order 2 curries at our regular Indians which feed myself my husband and two children you were lucky to get these curries to stretch to two people. Over priced food and drinks.. £13.90 for two cokes a cobra and a shandy is rediculous especially when they pour the coke out a 2 litre bottle infront of you. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and will avoid at all point...

Ordered twice from here the last few months. Food has been excellent both times but have been left feeling I won't order again after waiting two hours for our delivery on the second order. Rang twice and spoke with restaurant half HR before we had food delivered to be told it was 5-10mins away then again 10mins before we received our order. Very bad service but lovely food. We won't be ordering from here again for the horrendously long wait on a delivery. 2* review is totally for delivery time as food is great!! Such a shame. Honesty goes a long way when talking...

Been a long time favourite of mine this place, I've always said I've never had a bad meal I ordered a meal for collection last night which cost in the region of £42 and it was a massive disappointment from starters to main courses and even Nan breads felt massively disappointed, if it had of just been one of the main courses are starters I'd had brushed it off, but it was everything the passion seems to have gone from their kitchens I really hope it comes back but I'll be going else where from now on until I hear...
