I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Jolly Farmer, and I can’t recommend it highly enough! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed into a warm and inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements the stunning setting. The menu is superb, offering a fantastic selection of dishes that are both creative and delicious. Every meal we tried was cooked to perfection, and the quality of ingredients was evident in every bite. What’s even better is that the food is very reasonably priced, making the experience all the more enjoyable. The service was truly outstanding. The staff were not only super friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and drinks selection. A special shoutout to CHARLOTTE, who went above and beyond to make our visit memorable—her recommendations were spot on, and her warm, welcoming nature added an extra touch of excellence to the evening. If you’re looking for a place that combines great food, a wonderful setting, and top-tier service, The Jolly Farmer is an absolute must-visit. I’ll definitely be returning soon!

Was looking for a different pub/restaurant than our usuals. Although not completely local to us based on reviews and menu available, we decided to go with my wife. While there is parking there was no free space available but managed to find a space not far. Both of us had a three-course dinner. My wife chosen Chicken liver parfait followed by lamb shank. I have chosen the cheese souffle followed by the Pork tomahawk. Food was well presented and tasty. I personally enjoyed the souffle but the pork tomahawk is the one I liked most. The braeburn apple and the mash were perfect to have a complete, tasty dish. Wife also enjoyed her food, although she was completely full by the end of it.She would not have eaten all of it if she did not really enjoy it Overall, I give full mark to that nice local pub. Service is good from start to finish with very reasonable prices for the quality of the food on offer. Definitely I will be recommending it to friends and we will be looking to return and try some of the other dishes

A quaint little place in the country with a chic and resplendent interior oozing charm. Friendly staff and delightful food await within. Went with family and ordered the pan fried chicken supreme with mustard sauce, mash, green beans lardons and mushrooms in addition to a trout fillet with prawn and white wine butter, potatoes and wilted kale and finally the cod fillet and butter bean cassoulet with chorizo. I loved my chicken supreme with the chicken boasting a perfectly crisp skin and succulent middle. The mash was rich and creamy and the mustard sauce brought it all together superbly. Opted for the apple and blackberry crumble for dessert and the standards remained flying. The blackberry was tart complementing the poached like consistency of the apple rounded off with the cooling crème fraiche. A wonderful place that I would recommend to anyone who likes pub food taken up a notch.

I decided to go to this pub again after a few months. my first experience wasn’t great but the second was a whole lot worse. first time i came the staff were quite rude and unpleasant, i think it was the manager or supervisor (polish woman), who was extremely rude and visibly uninterested, there was no sense of customer care. fair enough i went on a sunday and maybe staff are tired etc but it’s not excuse to be rude and rush guests (the main issue with my visit) it was such a disappointing and unfulfilling experience, after hearing great things about this place and then having a difficult week i just wanted to treat myself and my mum to a ‘nice’ meal and a few drinks but it just wasn’t great and i certainly wasn’t pleased. I left feeling deflated and like i’d wasted my time and money, both me and my mum were pretty much done with the place. However i took a second visit a few weeks ago and when i tell you i was deeply disgusted and traumatised by this experience i am not joking! i ordered a steak, asked for rare NOT raw! it was inedible and basically not cooked at all, i was shocked and wanted to leave immediately! but thought to stay and have a few cocktails which weren’t any better, i told the staff how i like my espresso martini and they were annoyed by me speaking it seemed and didn’t even listen to a word i say, ‘clearly how can i help’ doesn’t mean anything anymore in some hospitality places. i work in hospitality myself so know how to treat customers and staff but by the looks of the staff at this place that isn’t the case! i think her name is eve and another called suzzane who were especially unbothered, rude, lazy and just created such a negative atmosphere and experience. we’re guests we need to be treated properly and there was no sense of care AT ALL. so i definatly will not be returning and i DO...

Good evening, I hope this email finds you at a quieter time than a Monday evening.

Tonight myself and my partner thought we would come and try the well reviewed Jolly Farmer in Chalfont.

After a slow service at the bar we decided to sit outside and order some food. After receiving our Nibbles of a scotch egg (which had shell in it, shows it was fresh I was very pleased) 15 minutes after ordering. 30 minutes after this we realised we had been waiting for 45 mins for anything else … I went in to ask on the status of our order, where I was asked “what did you order” no apology didn’t even ask where I was sat.

I went back to my table and we agreed to wait for a further 15mins to give the kitchen 1 hour before we would leave. Lo and behold directly one hour later, I was offered my starter and one main at exactly the same time no apology! And no sign of another main dish.

I refused to accept the order and request requested a refund. Due to the terrible service and amount of time it took to receive our food.

The service only got worse from here it took a short lifetime for the staff to process a refund, still no apology and it came across that no one had a clue what they were doing. After a while of my partner being made to feel very uncomfortable waiting at the bar, the refund was processed, minus the scotch egg and a flippant apology was given.

This is not what I would expect from a well renowned chain restaurant, nevertheless with Raymond Blanc’s name above the door. Tonight I do not believe I experienced anything that I would associate Raymond Blanc with, and I’m sure if I could copy him into this email he would agree.

I would highly appreciate a response to this email just to know that someone has taken the time to read what has taken me less time than it takes to cook a scotch...

Rude, sarcastic and incredibly inappropriate. I recently attended a funeral nearby and we gathered here afterwards to come together for a drink before people went their separate ways. One of the party who is nearly 80 asked for a Cinzano and lemonade. Whilst at the bar, I was discussing his request with another member of the party and the barmaid overheard us discussing the chances of them actually having Cinzano (quite an old fashioned drink) and, presumably, thought we were criticising the selection of drinks available. With that (at this point, we hadn't even been served), she took it upon herself to "educate" us about the types of drinks that are available and what type of establishment the place is (referring to Raymond Blanc) and that they don't have the requested type of drinks. Furthermore, she thrust the wine list in front of me incredibly sarcastically saying these are the types of wines we have here, here or here or "you can see the spirits behind me here". I was utterly speechless! She completely mis-judged the situation, totally embarrassed me in front of other people in the group (which isn't the end of the world) but what concerns me is how she felt it appropriate to do so given the circumstances of our visit. I probably won't have any reason to re-visit as I'm not particularly local (and if I was, I certainly wouldn't after this) but it staggers me how one can demonstrate such poor judgement and service especially given the...
