The Oldenburg Hotel — Restaurant in England

We went in for a quiet drink, the decor is much better than it used to be. We did intend to stay for a while, but our conversation was repeatedly interrupted by one person who talked continuously. Although the staff tried to calm him, he wouldn’t stop annoying us. We finished our drinks and left. I would have given a better review, however, we had to leave or ‘put up’ with constant drivel. We will try again, and hopefully choose a better night/seat.

We did visit again and we have become regulars over the past 3 to 4 years. The person who was annoying us seems to have moved on. It’s a great pub, and we have enjoyed the entertainment, including various themed nights (Christmas, new year Halloween etc). People are generally friendly and the staff are great! Like any good local pub, it’s got a great selection of drinks, at good prices and if you are into sports, you can watch a TV from almost everywhere in the bar! Phoebe the landlady, and the staff have managed to remove the problems and make it a welcoming place to have a drink, chat and evenings of entertainment on Saturday nights. When I visit Paignton I usually stick to Wetherspoons and the main strip. Yesterday, however, I decided to have a wander to try and find a few backstreet pubs. I stumbled across this place, and very glad I did. The young lady serving was very warm, friendly and welcoming. The price of my pint of Guinness was very reasonable and a lovely pint too! Great atmosphere, nice friendly locals, and great music. Plenty of TV screens too. All in all a very pleasant visit, and I shall definitely be returning the next time I am in Paignton. It was a beautiful experience. Bar staff very polite and very willing. Lots of choice of Ales, Beers and Ciders with a very friendly clean atmosphere. Live Sports TV, different channel's to watch at the same time on other TV's. BOUNS.... a live gutarist playing in the beer garden... ( someone told me that the chap was alocal and takes his gutar where ever he go's. Also he had played alongside with Bob Dylan...Wow !!! ) FANTASTIC!!!!... What more would one want. Will go...
