As a loyal customer for some time, having frequented the restaurant 5 or 6 times before the lockdown, and having had takeaway on numerous occasions, I was shocked but our latest and LAST EVER meal from Honeymoon.
Mistakes can be made but you truly find out more about a place by how they treat you when they get it wrong than when they get it right, and the abbhorent customer service and attitude on display lost them loyal custom that day.
We ordered a meal which in the main was fine but upon biting into some chicken balls, discovered they were soft and pink inside, made sure it wasn't just one but it was all of them, so called Honeymoon, a guy who could barely speak English offered no apology, and bluntly asked us what we wanted to do about it, inforned us we would have to pursue a refund through just eat which is rubbish because when Mr cooks steak and grillhouse which is the best takeaway pizza by the way forgot our toppings refunded us and we kept the pizzas, however on this occasion we were told no refund would be issued without the food being returned???? So into the food caddy we go, box it up, one of the guys who serves the counter knocks on the door, doesn't make eye contact doesn't speak doesn't offer an apology or recompense and just walks away, we could have had food poisoning or been seriously ill but no ownership of their mistake no accountability whatsoever and if that's how they carry on in these uncertain times just throwing away loyal customers may they get what they deserve.
We loved going to the buffet but not after this, a mistake like that is very revealing,
Shameful lack of customer service or accountability won't be back if you were...
Read moreWe went to the Honeymoon for a buffet on a Saturday evening 8:30pm.
There were 2 tables of people when we arrived so the restaurant was almost empty, the buffet wasn’t full of food, and some of the rice and noodles had dried out, 2 pieces of prawn toast that had obviously been out a while (tried one and it was dried out) Some of the other dishes were looking pretty baron. Chicken satay was very dry, and the satay sauce was very near empty the whole time I was there and had a skin on it (like the skin gravy gets on it when it’s been left a while)
Onto my second plate of food and I was going to ask when the fresh food was going to be added to the buffet but just in time they gradually started bringing fresh rice, noodles, prawn toast, duck and more dishes (a few more tables had arrived by this point as well) Mussels in black bean was a nice choice to have The meatballs in black bean was quite random, I don’t know if this is traditional? The deserts were a mix of lidl mini rolls, lidl chocolate buttons, ice cream, pick n mix and frozen small cakes etc
£15.99 per adult on a Saturday evening. Quality of food is not out of this world but not terrible either (I think £12.99 would be more reasonable and a fair price for them to charge) Worth a try if you enjoy a buffet. I love a buffet so even though I wasn’t totally impressed I will be returning...
Read moreNot a great experience... we have been to some excellent Chinese/oriental buffet restaurants on our travels and this sadly falls short... the general feel you get from the internal decor is its seen better days ( confirmed by a local also) starting with the sweet & sour soup (usually a favorite of mine) it was disappointing and lacked all the ingredients & punch you come to expect. The duck for the pancakes wasn't shredded but in little 'lumps' that didn't sit well in the pancakes, and generally we found most of the dishes were just ' warm' rather than piping hot - I'm guessing this is because there was no lids/ covers on the serve yourself food trolley and they don't want the sauces / food to dry out ? No classic chilli sauce to be seen or plum sauce for the duck, the beef in black bean was acceptable had it been hot enough and the chicken curry looked un-appetizing. I tried several small portions from the food on offer before I left this review and it fell short of expectations for us, you also have to pay for food and drinks BEFORE you eat or drink - maybe they've experienced customers avoiding bill payments in the past ? All in all not a place I would...
