Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience

my boyfriend and I visited the ostrich expecting a pleasant evening of live music. However, our experience was ruined by the unprofessional and accusatory behaviour of the bar staff.

We were minding our own business in the corner until my boyfriend went to get a second drink at which point the bartender made a series of unfounded and offensive accusations, including that I appeared intoxicated and had been crying. These claims were entirely false and deeply upsetting.

When we attempted to address the issue with the bar staff and then manager, they were both dismissive and unprofessional, refusing to take our concerns seriously with the manager continuously shouting over me.

It's disheartening to encounter such poor service and blatant disregard for customer well-being. We will not be returning to this establishment and I would recommend either the brewery tap or the shed for anyone who is looking for a drink in a pleasant environment

Recommendation:

The bar staff should undergo proper training and sensitivity training to ensure they handle situations involving potential customer distress appropriately. This could prevent misunderstandings and potential harm. If there was a situation of DA this situation could have resulted in serious harm to the person in a...

The people were lovely and the music was amazing. However there was a weird moment with the landlord informing us about how 2 people wanting to slap me and my 2 friends. I have no idea why as we all were respectful, and kind to anyone who spoke to us. He mentioned about us walking around alot ( if i remember correctly ) which in my mind didnt make sense. I had only gone to buy drinks maybe 3x or 4x, one moment where me and my friend walked to the in the entrance and back looking for our other friend and obviously going toilet breaks, again i could be missing out information that i dont remember. He spoke about how the community is older and anyone under 30 is considered a kid, which made me think he was implying that my age was a problem. As a young adult i thought this bar would be a little more welcoming giving the fact they appeal to younger adults. The landlord didnt seem fussed or worried about the fact that 2 people were basically threatening customers, just said this bar has a older community and that someone wanted to slap us. Other than that the people i spoke to were lovely and the rock live music...

Ok just to clear up a couple reviews of recent, I come from Wisbech and come in the ostrich as it's a brilliant, kick a**e pub with brilliant atmosphere. Don't take my word for it? I even came with a friend once on a tour de la Peterborough and his favourite pub was the Ostrich, couple other friends want to do a tour but really wants to come to the ostrich as neither have came before and have heard nothing but good things. Now to the matters, the floor has never been sticky, maybe Spiderman or sticky Vicky hasn't been in but ya know. I've been served by all different bar staff and all are extremely polite and friendly, even regulars and newcomers alike are treated the same as a regular. The short plump barmaid has even served me and is nothing but friendly and professional, no need for a personality transplant, maybe if you fat shaming people (would you fat shame Lizzo, asking for a friend) you need a good hard look at your own personality. Ah and how comes Ostrich is in the top five of the Peterborough ale trail with apparent sticky floors and rude bar staff? Let that...

Very bad experience with this IPA. It was extremely cloudy—almost murky to the point of being unappetizing. When I asked the staff about it, they said it was “because of a barbell move,” which made no sense and didn’t explain the strange texture or poor taste. The flavor was flat and harsh, with a gritty mouthfeel that lingered unpleasantly. This didn’t taste like a proper NEIPA at all—more like something went wrong during brewing or handling. I’ve had many hazy IPAs before, but this one felt unbalanced and unrefined. Disappointing overall—would not recommend or try again.

Argyle on tour!! We got stuffed so I am searching out real ale pubs to drown my sorrows.....and the Ostrich was on the list. And its really good....vibrant....and quite quirky with little nooks and crannies.....including an outdoor area which looked great but I wasn't sure if it was outside!! I met some fellow Argyle fans and we spent a few hours drinking talking and playing pool. Good real ales....ever had a vegan one......oops and ugh. Super atmosphere everyone enjoying themselves and bar staff great...

I brought a couple of touring punk bands to the Ostrich on a Monday night. What a great place! Our hosts were exceptionally nice and very accommodating. The place was packed and everyone was friendly and welcoming. We were offered first class vegan, Mexican food that we all enjoyed. I recommend The Ostrich Inn to everyone reading this.
