The Piggy Bank — Restaurant in England

First time here....not a beer drinker but thought we'd have a gin in there. Not many in but got a cold look from the lady at the bar. She was already serving someone and rudly asked us to move alone the bar, even tho we were the only ones at the bar!! We waited for the barman to finish what he was doing (paperwork it seemed) to even look up at us. All he had to say was "Hi, be with you in a minute "... Not a good selection of gins so we finally settled for our 3rd choice. After an hour the barman came over to let us know he will be calling last orders at 9.30!!! Didn't realised the Calne closes at 9.30...not surprised for a Saturday night the place was dead!!!

** Thank you Malcome I appreciate your reply. I could see you did have a good selection of gins, it was just a shame you had run out of our choices. But yes, I could see you do carry quite a few there. I'm new to Calne so really wasnt aware of the opening hours....I suppose I have to get used to the opening hours in Calne! Thank you again for your reply and maybe I'll give the Piggy Bank...

Such a big change in atmosphere since so many incredible staff were let go, it is very disappointing to see. Not to mention the awful scene that Ray the new manager made with a woman sat at a table with her friends this evening. Very aggressive and very confrontational on his behalf, not to mention horribly inappropriate.

Edit since receiving a reply from the establishment - I was a passer by that evening rather than a patron. I have recently visited myself and felt that the atmosphere was different. After seeing that development last night, I felt it may now be a good time leave a fresh review. I have in the past left a positive review on Facebook. The establishment's unpleasant reply is enough for me to not visit again...

It seemed like an ordinary Friday evening when I turned up at the Piggy Bank and found a precious jewel in the crown of Calne.

The building was previously an office for the famous Harris bacon and sausage empire, and later a bank, hence the Piggy... and Bank.

The atmosphere was friendly; sitting outside in the evening sunshine was delightful; the beer, the service and the customers were all friendly and the whole experience is one that I shall treasure.

I'll be back the next time I'm in Wiltshire....
