Massive massive thanks to Trina the Staff and Regulars at the Plough in Bradford on Avon for making 3 very cold and tired stranded travellers feel very very welcome and looked after yesterday.
My car terminally broke down after carrying out a sponsored walk with my 11 year old twin girls along the Kennet and Avon Canal on the 18/12/22. We’d walked 11 miles and were feeling the -5 chill. The recovery service had said that it could be hours before we could be recovered home, so we were, in true festive tradition, in dire need of shelter, warmth and refreshment.
Not being local we turned to Google and the Plough showed that it was the best rated closest pub so we took a chance and went in.
I explained my predicament and the wonderful staff were amazing, it was their busy Christmas draw night yet still they accommodated us in a busy bar, let us charge our phones and hang out for the subsequent 7 hours, they kept checking on us and we’re even hunting hotel rooms in case it came to that. We felt thoroughly at home.
They displayed a fantastic community spirit that’s often missing in Britain’s public houses.
