If I could give 0 stars I would. We were charged 60 pounds for parking there despite being a customer. All I saw was 'Free Customer Parking' and missed the other signs. Ordinarily I would hold my hands up and deal with it. Although I still think human error should be taken into account. On this occasion I tried to fight it, as we had just had our dog of 12 years put down and I was inconsolable, and just wanted a drink to calm down and so wasn't looking for any further instruction regarding the car parking. We tried to fight it, received no response for a MONTH. When we did realise they had emailed us (too late as they emailed us the day before we cremated my father in law hence why we missed the email - why they didn't respond via post as they had originally contacted us, I don't know), it was because we had received a letter from a debt collection company, for 170 POUNDS. We again pleaded with them as we have had a very challenging summer of loss and again sent proof of our purchase. To no avail. No mercy and for a mediocre pub, with ok menu and below average service, I really wouldn't bother, especially if you're having to park. I have included another review in an image below where they claim that they only use cards to provide proof for customers purchases. THAT DOES NOT WORK, We showed our proof and they didn't care. And it makes it so much worse that it was the day our little spaniel had to be put down. Fortunately, we are spoilt for choice of much better establishments and so we won't have have to set foot there again. Side note: When we asked why the staff didn't guide us to put our details in, to avoid a charge, their response was to say 'They are not obliged to'

The owner of the cottage where we are staying recommended this pub as the best in Bradford-on-Avon. As we had not made an advance boking, we were unable to get a table with a view to the canal but a table outside under a huge umbrella on a baking hot day suited us just fine. I ordered a starter and we both ordered mains. It seemed a long time coming and when she brought my starter, she said the mains were ready as well. We asked could the mains be held back but she said no, not really, so I ate my main first and had my starter - feta cheese and tomato salad as my afters. They offer a carvery in Sunday but due to covid, you cannot help yourself. My wife had beef, which she said was good but a little stringy. I had the chicken. Both came with huge portions of vegetables, more than we could eat. The price was more than excellent: £10.95 for the 'normal' portion. We felt sorry for the waitresses having to run up a d down stairs so many times.

Went wild swimming in Bradford-on-Avon this summer and stopped off at a pub along the canal on our way home for some dinner. As with eating out anywhere that isn’t a chain, I went in with low expectations regarding what I would be able to eat. The staff could not have been more helpful, understanding and thorough. The lady behind the bar was knowledgeable off the bat and assured me there were no peanuts in the kitchen. She also spoke with the chef (without me even asking!) to make them aware and double check about the cross contamination of external ingredients (which, of course, couldn’t be guaranteed but they would make every effort to make it as safe as possible). I felt completely relaxed, which is very rare for me when eating out. It was just so nice to meet someone who really understood the severity of a life-threatening allergy. Thank you Barge Inn!🧡

Our experience with this property is one of utter disgust. My main issue is due to the lies that have been told since requesting a full refund as we felt we could not sleep at the property due to the fumes of gloss paint. Whilst watching a film the smell caused me to have a headache and feel sick. When reporting this and asking for an alternative room the person who I dealt with, who seemed to be in charge on that evening said ‘I cannot do anything about the paint’ I thought this was in itself quite patronising as of course she couldn’t but I said we should have been pre warned and we were not. I am asthmatic also. When we first got to our room, we had to call the same lady up to our room to sort the tv as this was not working and also pointed out to her that a floor tile on the bathroom was broken and we had had to place a towel over the tile to save our feet and our dogs as this was sharp. She sorted the tv, but she seemed to be aware of the tile, which to be honest wasn’t great but small issue so we stayed. We only left due to the paint smell. My husband was advised to contact booking.com as I was looking for a refund as we could not stay overnight. Booking.com spoke with the property and to our complete shock they said we were pre warned about the paint ! This is absolutely rubbish as we were not. Furthermore, it was said that my husband has said we were happy with the room, not really as we had already complained about the TV and the tile so no not 100% happy. If, the property had come back with an apology or any empathy etc and offered a part refund I probably would have accepted but they have refused a refund at all and lied to say we had been told about the paint. Furthermore, contradicted themselves, when speaking with Steph who works in the property to say she wasn’t aware the property had been painted so, if that’s the case why would they have pre warned us. Within my profession I understand all about customer service and the way this property has acted is disgusting. To completely lie is outrageous and I am very shocked ! Also when asking who I would need to send an email to to write a complaint Steph would only provide me with a first name, Beth and refused to provide me with her second name and email address! I will continue to pursue this matter and now even more so because of the barefaced lies. Such a shame as really needed to get away to relax. Food was lovely but very patronising staff and liars too. The whole point of an overnight stay, weekend stay is to be able relax. I wasn’t able to due to the...

I am personally offended by the incredibly rude staff here I have never been spoken to by a waitress, bar staff and manager the way I was here. Beyond rude. Go if you want to waste your time and money

There was a lot staff could have done to placate our dissatisfaction with your service. Instead you seemed to make every effort to make matters worse. All staff were insistent and unyielding we were told over an hour wait for food when we ordered, but we were not. Even so I would expect an apology when inquiring after 30 minutes rather than an argumentative waitress, bar staff and manager, however none was offered. When I asked for my food to be wrapped up for take away, because our young child needed to go to bed the manager replied, that she would bring me tin foil and I should wrap it myself. This was said over her shoulder as she walked away which I found to be superbly deliberately rude. Our visit to The Barge was completely spoiled by staff bolshie attitudes, I would put this down to a one off, everybody has bad days, regrettably however this was not the first time we have been shocked and disappointed with bad tempered staff with shitty attitudes and I have always left feeling deeply disappointed. I would like a full refund for the two beef burgers I was charged for today. As four members of staff confused food orders and made our visit miserable plus the manager was knowingly and deliberately rude and dismissive clearly with intention of causing offense. More remains to be said about our visit but the detail of the series of events, who said what and why is irrelevant when in the end we were made to feel unwelcome, we could not wait to leave, and had spent a lot of money for the privilege. I would also like a reply from the owner and not the manager, as a business owner myself I feel its correct that this message reaches him/her so he/she is aware of the appalling service we have endured. Regrettably if I do not hear from the owner I will assume you are not ashamed of your behavior and therefore post this mail as reviews of our experience of your hospitality.

I’m not surprised you have...

We stopped here on the way home as it looked nice. We ordered the chicken breast with fondant potato, and a charcuterie board that said it came with 'meats, breads, pickles, chutneys and baby leaf salad' and we asked for some tap water as well as our soft drinks. The tap water never arrived and the food was a joke.

The charcuterie board was some cured meats, two slices of very average bread, THREE spinach leaves, NO pickles, NO chutneys, a tiny bowl of olives and a bowl the same size with some kind of olive juice type thing in there for the bread. If the menu had said that the charcuterie board would be some meats, two small slices of bread and olive overload I wouldn't have ordered it as I absolutely hate olives. My partner's chicken breast with fondant potato was massively overcooked, and they'd managed to pile olives onto that plate too even though nowhere on the menu were olives in the description. Almost £20 for each meal of this standard is daylight robbery.

During the meal a different server came to the table and I said that I didn't like olives and would the staff like them instead because I haven't touched them, and she just laughed and walked off. No concern or interest in what the issues with our food were. I was then halfway through eating my food when our original server came over and asked if we were finished. I said no then we sat there waiting for 15 minutes without any follow up, the restaurant and bar were not busy at all.

We got bored waiting so went up to the bar to pay, the server asked us how our food was and we explained what happened and whilst she was sympathetic, it did not feel like genuine concern knowing full well we would not be back since we were not locals. The response was 'thank you for the feedback, if you come back I hope you have a better experience' which was such a slap in the face. We paid over £46 for something we could have bought from Tesco (without the olive overload) and prepared for less than...
