I avoided this pub for many years as it had a bit of bad rep but since I opened my shop across the road i started calling in.
The new land lady is really friendly and helpful.
She often keeps a carvery for us as I don’t always finish work until later on. Just the little things like they had run out of Yorkshire puddings so she made us some fresh! They are so tasty the handmade mash is really good too.
I’m also a bit fussy about what wine I drink as I have to avoid sulphites so they always let me choose one so I can enjoy a drink without getting unwell.
The locals can be noisy but it’s entertaining and they are all very friendly even extending this kindness to come and pay a visit to my shop and support it
I really like this pub now, they even do a dog carvery and dogs are always welcome
Great local pub with great food and...

I was tempted in by the mention of scallops on a black pudding mashed potato on the boards outside.
Inside I asked what dark ales they had and took a Theakstons Old Peculiar. Excellent.

Then the scallops, and yes, they were excellent.
The staff and owners worked very hard to accommodate the needs of the next table, it seemed like literally nothing was too much trouble. As they made great efforts to please, I enjoyed a baked New York Cheesecake. Yum.
The new owners here are working incredibly hard to make this a truly exceptional place to eat and drink. Don't delay, get here and enjoy it while you can....
Read moreMy first visit to The Puss In Boot's and pleasantly surprised by the welcome received from Lou and Ian. Warm and friendly staff ready to serve you.
On first glance through the front door you only see two rooms but the place is like the TARDIS, the lounge and eating area is at the back and ample space.
I had the 16 ounce rump steak and it was cooked to perfection. Juicy all the way through served with homemade chips, salad and peppercorn sauce.
I had looked at the reviews for this pub and was not put off by the couple of negative reviews.
Passing through on a narrow boat and so far this has been the best meal in the west midlands. Makes the Toby Carvery chain of pubs look like a McDonald's.
So if there any boaters travelers to Macclesfield looking for a good meal then this is the...
