Chilli Banana Thai Restaurant (Macclesfield) — Restaurant in England

Have been coming to Chilli B since 2007, spending thousands at this establishment, introduced lots of people and up until recently I’ve always enjoyed the food and service.

Unfortunately the food quality seems to have dropped (ie cheaper cuts of meat), the food no longer tastes the same and quality has gone downhill- for a green curry and rice at £20+ this is far too expensive,

The main menu has very high prices which makes it difficult to justify eating here, the lunch menu deal is handy but again let down by food quality.

The service charge automatically printed on the receipt drives the bill up, again another expense and inconvenience as its embarrassing to have to ask for it to be removed. I understand the restaurant industries have been hit hard in these past few years but so has everything else.

EDIT - thanks for replying to some of my review a month later. I believe that providing good service and quality food shouldn't require prompting from the customer. A seamless dining experience should be the standard, not something that needs to be pointed out when it falls short (especially with the prices you charge).

Just to clarify, it's not my responsibility to instruct your chefs on how to prepare their dishes.

I shared my feedback because I feel that it's important for businesses to know when they miss the mark. Hopefully, this helps to improve the experience for future guests.

Really mad about Chilli Banana tonight.

Ordered some food late so got something small to take away.

Chicken satay , sticky rice with the peanut and sweet sauces.

So much MSG has been used in the food (I have an allergy to it) anytime I eat MSG I cannot sleep - it’s weird because it makes me completely wired and unable to shut my brain off when sleeping. I realised after being in a half daze until 230am from 11pm that it’s that weird and unusual feeling (not just a bad nights sleep) straight away I know the culprit of this weird half awake half asleep state - MSG!! Heart beating excessively from it.

Not impressed that in the UK it is not labelled as an allergen!!! It is used to enhance flavour artificially and Not all Thai restaurants use this even in Thailand. Good quality restaurants will avoid using it especially here in the UK I haven’t really had this problem.

Will avoid from now really disappointed and thanks for a poor nights sleep chilli banana!

The food was actually nice, probably the sauces full of it. A real shame it’s not labelled.

Second time ordering take-away from Chilli Banana. I have always been a fan and never had a bad meal when visiting their restaurant. The first order was a bit late (15 mins) and cold (we re-heated it before eating), although delicious. This time the food is an hour late and freezing cold Again! This is not good enough! Especially since it cost £50 for two. Really not happy about this Chilli Banana! Whilst the food tastes good, over £10 for a veggie red curry which consisted of 3 small florets of cauliflower and 2 small florets of broccoli, a single green bean, 3 bamboo shoots and a tiny piece of red pepper is despicable. The veggie massaman curry had 3 tiny new potatoes and 6 tiny pieces of tofu (bean curd) for over £10 again. I really don't like leaving a poor review but this is a shocking rip off! Would not recommend and will not be ordering again. What's more, I won't be eating in their restaurants...
