The Waggon & Horses — Restaurant in England

Cliché alert but saved the best to last. Just moved to the area and thought a mini-tour of the local pubs was in order. There are three as far as I can see. Within 5mins of each other. I visited the other two first. Nothing bad to say about either of them. In fact they were fab. For me though, this place won the day. Seriously impressed by the Covid attentiveness on the door. This continued through to well organised and attentive staff inside. Also, nice touch. They wedge the toilet doors open so you don't have to touch the icky handles! Kudos to the boss, her/his crew are very good. Anyway. Meant to stay for one, ended up having two. Food menu is limited to Pizza until Sunday when there's a roast, which I'll check out tomorrow. Kinda get it though as not much passing trade here. Rather they not order buckets of perishable stuff that may go to waste, environmentally. Music taste suits me. Engaged employees from the looks of it too....

Lovely pub! Have frequented this pub for years and has always been a firm favourite however it is now under new management and the new owners have bought a fantastic new lease of life which has only improved it! The owners and staff are very friendly and always happy to listen and help, they have a good selection of beers, ales and wines and the home cooked food is fantastic. Sunday roasts are amazing and they occasionally manage a barbecue (when the weather permits!) which is great as it saves the hassle of cooking yourself and is a great reason for an afternoon out with friends. The inside of the pub has been redecorated and is much lighter and more welcoming and they have a lovely enclosed garden with lots of room for children and dogs! Would definitely...

I arranged a surprise 40th birthday party for my boyfriend at this lovely cozy pub. It was just perfect!! Richard & the team were so accommodating & helped with all the arrangements. I was emailed a copy of the canapé menu which consisted of homemade concasse on crusty bread, and also bowl food, such a mini portions of rice and katsu curry. The food was so great and perfect for a party! Prior to the event Richard helped me set up decorations, and arranged to meet my cake lady to set up the dessert table. The staff are super friendly and quick behind the bar. I’ve nothing but praise! Thank you to the Waggon...
