Comically bad service. I am puzzled by the good reviews, I don't know if people were just excited when the place was new; if it was opened by some kind of special team, who then moved on; or if Tim Hortons have been buying reviews, but this place is genuinely rubbish. The service was awful. I was glared at (by staff) in a manner I found outright confrontational, just for walking in....two and a half hours before closing time!?!? A group who walked in after me got told off for trying to sit in the part (3/4) of the venue that had been cleaned, and had no option but the table awkwardly close to the door (an area that presumably wasn't cleaned.....otherwise how was it any different from the table they wanted?). My pre ordered food was chucked on the counter so it slid over to me, half wrapped, the server having walked off before it finished sliding (or I could ask him for a drink). Slick, but overtly rude! I politely tried to get his attention, waving a hand and saying 'excuse me' but he just blanked me and stood about 6 feet away doing his next order. Bear in mind now that the place was dead, there was only 1 order waiting on the screen, and he was close enough to easily speak to me while doing what he was doing... It was like being in one of those 'Karen's Diner' places where being incredibly rude is the actual theme. It is fair to say that the staff here treat customers with open disdain.
Anyway, if it was super cheap, perhaps this would almost wash, but the lemonade I (eventually) got was £3.99 for 440ml including the ice, so no more drink than in a typical can of pop.....for £4!!! For that price I want elegant table service, not my stuff chucked at me in a grubby dump lol. I also got some Timsbits (the pre ordered bit), which were fairly nice, but again upsettingly poor value. I genuinely feel robbed. Oh, yeah, and as MANY other people have pointed out on a multitude of other dates.... the self service machines have no receipts.....still! They obviously don't care about this. I don't know if they are saving money (to up their one million percent margin on the food & drink), or are just that inept, but yeah, don't go here if you need a receipt, because simply you can't have one (there is a till at the counter, but I was ignored for the several minutes I...
Read moreWe decided to stop here on our way to visit family on a recommendation. We’d never heard of Tim Horton before.
We immediately felt the place was clean and cosy despite being really busy. Seating was a mix of dining and coffee-shop casual - which made it feel warm and relaxed.
The ordering process could be improved as it was unclear where to queue for ordering and waiting. The staff were efficient and friendly though.
We had burgers, lattice fries, Camembert cheese bites and of course, a couple of donuts and coffee. We didn’t have to wait too long for the food.
The double cheeseburger came in a foil wrap, similar to 5 Guys. The patty was good, it tasted clean and almost healthy. The seeded bun reminded me of a Wimpy burger, in a good way. The lattice fries did not seem like a great replacement for proper fries but the Camembert cheese bites were hot, melty, and very cheesy.
Their dark-roast coffee was deep and rich, which I liked a lot, and the donuts; a caramel apple fritter and a honey cruller were really good.
One element of the layout we liked was the relaxed, informal and open seating, which made it easy to have conversations with people. We ended up having a really helpful conversation with a guy and his Labrador about dog breeds.
Would we...
Read moreWell we had to call in on impulse just to see and experience Tim Hortons for the first time. Restaurant new and immaculately clean, comfortable seating. Spent quite a bit more than one normally would in Burger King or McDonald's, but as a box of 6 assorted Donuts I added to the order as a treat, put £8.99 on top.
I enjoyed the hot dog although the onion was mixed with the tomato sauce under the sausage, the bun wasn't toasted as I would have had in Toronto but it tasted just how I remembered they were served from the stand in front of City Hall. Not too keen on the waffle style chips which to be honest were not exactly hot. Donna had the standard Chicken Burger which she said was excellent, as was the cup of Tea (which had been missed off the tray handed over so had to go back for it)
The kids didn't really "get" the smalls meal (possibly as it was seved in a Timbits box) but I don't really think the experience is geared towards smalls.
Overall a relaxed place to be with plenty of room, comfortable seating and good subtle lighting and good ambience Plenty of staff to keep the place clean and tidy. Good venue to meet up with friends/ family/ business for...
