My recent visit to Toby Carvery was a bit of a mixed bag. While there were some positive aspects, there were also several areas that need improvement. **The Positives:** * **Friendly Staff:** Our server, Nick, was very welcoming and attentive. The carver, Jake, was also professional and answered all our questions politely, even when faced with challenging customers. * **Good Food (Eventually):** Once the meat was finally cooked, it was quite good. **The Negatives:** * **Uncooked Meat:** Upon arrival, we were disappointed to find that the meat was not cooked and had to wait 30 minutes for it to be ready, despite being told it would only be 20. * **Lack of Allergy Awareness:** We were not asked about any allergy requirements, which is a significant oversight. * **Slow Dessert Service:** The desserts took a very long time to arrive and were incorrect when they finally did. * **Run-Down Establishment:** The restaurant itself is in need of refurbishment. The carpets were dirty, the tables were worn out, and there were broken tiles in the toilet. * **Missed Opportunity:** While we waited for the meat, we were offered pigs in blankets for £3.99. Considering the delay, it would have been a nice gesture for the restaurant to waive this small charge. **Overall:** Toby Carvery has the potential to be a good dining experience, but it falls short in several areas. The lack of cooked meat, slow service, and run-down establishment detracted from our visit. While the staff were friendly and the food was ultimately good, the negatives outweighed the positives on this occasion. **Recommendation:** I would recommend that Toby Carvery address the issues raised in this review to improve the customer experience. With some attention to detail and refurbishment, it could be a much more enjoyable place to dine.

People who walked in without booking were getting priority over those who booked like myself. Why have a booking system if you are not going to use it and make people wait around to be seated when there are tables available. We got told to get a drink from the bar and then they would seat us, this did not happen for at least 10 minutes so we asked a member of staff to seat us to which she replied ‘You will have to wait another 5 minutes as you can see there are no available tables so either go outside or go round the corner out of the way of the carvery’. When we walked around the corner there were plenty available tables so we again asked the same woman if we could sit there to which she replied ‘there’s a group of 10 who have just walked in so we are seating them there however we will clear this table for you’. Once we finally got a table after 15 minutes we sat down and the cutlery was all dirty (pictures are attached). When we got the bill we explained that we weren’t happy with the service and how dirty the place is and the manager just made excuses and basically cut us off as she didn’t want to hear what i had to say. Maybe if she did listen she’d learn that something needs to change as her staff all looked like they were walking on egg shells. Again i understand it is busy but maybe you need more staff because the atmosphere was chaotic, rude and very unwelcoming. Overall, the food was really good, very tasty, hats off to the chefs (just to mention the chefs had better customer service skills than the front of house staff). I am very disappointed, will not be returning even though the food was good, if you like being spoken to in a passive aggressive way make sure to go to telford toby carvery 😃

Had £10 birthday voucher, so we decided to have 4 people attend for carvery, desserts and drinks. I tried to use the £10 against a £60 spend. I'm NHS Blue Light and blue light was more saving on %, and weren't able to use £10 voucher. If I can get 20% on Blue Light, why send me a £10 voucher I can't use. Second encounter. Three of us had carvery and dessert. Menu says (picture available), dinner and dessert £11.79. Yet when I queried the bill at £56.50 waitress said, can't use £11.79 with Blue Light. Should be: 3 x 11.79 Dinner/Dessert 1 x 9.79 Carvery 1 x 4.75 Pint Stowford Press 1 x 4.35 Bottle Corona 2 x 2.45 Pint Blackcurrant Soda Minus £10 Minus 20% Receipt Number (TF1 3QA) Where was my present? Manager said call again, just 2 people and use it!! Should have split the order, 2 people Minus £10 then 2 people 20%, then we would have gained the first visit stamp free Pint. Didn't even get that. Would you want to return if you felt conned?

We arrived and had to wait 30 minutes to be sat at our pre booked table which was fine in the grand scheme of things as it was Christmas Day. However things gradually got worse from there. We had starters, which I had the cheese fondant with bread, of which the bread was stale and the cheese was clearly just taken from the same sauce that is used to make the mac n cheese. It was very bland and boring but then we had 2 x prawn starters ordered, and were told they only had one available, which was the kids one as they had ran out, even though this being Christmas Day the meals were pre ordered in advance. However, not wanting to let this get in the way of the day we were fine with this and carried on. The. Came the main courses - Carvery. Firstly, no pigs in blankets, on Christmas Day so not only did I have 4 very upset children, I wasn’t too happy either. However we plod on and get our food, everyone barring my wife who needs to feed our toddler his food first so that she can then enjoy her meal. 4 times we were asked if she was going to go and get her food as they wanted to get on and take the meat away and begin clearing up. This ultimately led to me wife hastily going up to collect her carvery earlier than she wanted to. Not even 2 minutes after she came back to sit down with her plate of food, were we then asked to decide if we wanted anymore vegetables as seconds, as the team were clearing up all the veg as well. So now people had to make a decision on whether they wanted more food or not c before even finishing what was on their plates. Needless to say, when we declined seconds as nobody was certain my 9 year old then decided he needed some more mac and cheese, which of course had now been cleared away. Finally, withholding the need to go and complain, after all it was Christmas Day, our desserts arrived. Onto they weren’t our desserts, as we later found out that the 4/8 desserts delivered to our table were for someone else, and when our desserts were eventually brought out, some ice cream was melted, custard was cold. Add into the fact that when we were finally ushered to a different table right at the start of the meal after waiting 30 minutes, there were no Xmas crackers, or the table looking like anything remotely to do with Christmas, we then were faced with a rude member of staff who seemed appalled that we would even ask for some Christmas crackers to be sent to the table. We hadn’t even mentioned the fact that there was zero Xmas music playing and everything was very much, well like a last minute decision on a Sunday afternoon to nip out for a quick carvery. All in all, we used to enjoy Toby Carvery but we won’t be...

Food was beautiful service was shocking. The waitress never came to our table once during the 2 hours we were there, even though it was just us and 1 other table for an hour of that time, we had to get our own cutlery as none of the tables were set and the fresh cutlery was still covered in dried food, the waitress went out of her way to avoid even looking in our direction And we had to clear our own plates off the table and put them in a neat pile on the table next to us, as soon as we'd finished our main meals we went to the bar to order the puddings and even had a conversation with the manager that was serving us to ask if the children could have extra strawberrys on their icecream sundaes because they'd got no chocolate honeycomb pieces (the manager said this was not allowed) after waiting for the pudding for nearly an hour with 2 restless children and the waitress still completely ignoring us i went to the bar to ask if anyone was sorting out our puddings, the manager replied saying not at this time of night as it was gone 9.30pm, I was fuming as we'd been there for 2 hours and an hour of that time we were left waiting for a pudding that no one was going to make for us, I then told the manager that he was the one that had taken our order. It turned out that the kitchen staff never received our pudding order, I'm not sure what the manager did with our order. It's not good enough to be there for 2 hours and to be waiting for an hour for a pudding that was never going to be served to us. The waitress has no clue on how to do her job, if she has of done her job correctly she would of come over and cleared our plates, and at least asked if everything was ok and then we could of asked about our puddings instead of being left to wait patiently like idiots. She was the rudest waitress I've ever come across, she just completely avoided any interaction at all, while she left our dirty plates for us to clean away ourselves she pretended to look busy wiping already clean tables. It was honestly the worst service I've ever had, my 2 children left crying because they'd sat and waiting so patiently for their puddings and were really upset at not having them after being there for 2 hours. The manager doesn't seem to know what he's doing, the waitress needs to learn some people skills and get some training, but the Chefs were lovely and food was nice it's just a shame we never got to taste the puddings. The place has gone...

Had a 3pm booking for Xmas Dinner for 4 people, which was booked and deposit paid for months ago. Dish options were chosen through my online portal weeks ago so all we had to do was book in and the dishes would be Bought to us when ready. We arrived on time and was seated pretty quickly which was good, but that's when it all went wrong. Waited 40mins for our starters with no sign so I asked and they said they would check and no one came bk, asked again at 1hr wait no one came bk again, at an hour and 20 mins with still no sign I told them to just forget the starters were just going straight for the carvery as the kids were starving. The christmas carvery was good to be honest but that's what you're all about, so plenty of experience there. After eating that some one came to the table to inform us that our menu choices weren't on the system and asked what our dessert choices were, we gave them and the wait began again, 10 mins later they came out again to ask as they had forgotten so gave them again. They Brought out the dessert and not one was correct so they when back to get the right ones and when they came back only 3 were correct but the ice cream was pretty much a milkshake it had melted that much and the 2 cookie dought brownies were cold and very disappointing fourth one send bk for correct one which was good when it actually came. All in all an absolute shambles of a service, I get it was Xmas day so it's busy and thing go wrong but to allow us to sit there for 1hr20 waiting for starters when you obviously knew that out order wasn't on the system as I chased it up multiple times is disgusting all you had to do was come and tell us and get our choices after the first time I had asked and I would of understood. There was no acknowledgement of the mess up, no apology, no complimentary drink or slight discount which just shows that you don't care about you customers even when they where they're spending £200 pound on a meal that your incompetence ruined. I'll never come to you again, not...
