First off, I love this pub and have been a regular here for years. The beer is excellent and the place has a good atmosphere. We live locally and itâs a good place to relax after work either in the cozy bar or in the garden during summer.||||I have recommended this place to so many people, taken friends and family and previously never had a bad thing to say about this pub.||||So you ask, why a negative review?||||On the afternoon of Sunday 25 February 2019 I was among a family group of 6 people who visited. The pub was unusually busy, possibly because of the unseasonable good weather and the fact there was entertainment in the form of a guy singing and playing guitar.||On arrival we were fortunate enough to find seats and drinks were ordered. A young chap served us and all was well. The bar staff seemed very busy as only two appeared to be working. ||||The second round, again was uneventful. Again the same person served us.||||Then thing rapidly went downhill. I went to the bat with my wife. The young man that had been serving was no longer behind the bar, leaving a woman there working alone. We waited patiently while people that were being served and were waiting at the bar before us were served. ||After waiting about ten minutes, it became clear the woman serving was prioritizing certain customers and totally blanking my wife and myself. ||However we waited patiently. The next thing was the barmaid asked one of the drinkers to call last orders. I was surprised by this as it was only six oâclock. Never the less we continued to wait patiently. The woman serving had clearly seen us waiting and had acknowledged us. ||Then a punter walked up to my left. He was immediately served. By this time we had been waiting best part of 15 minutes and my patience was wearing thin.||I thought at last my turn to be served had come when another regular appeared to my right and she started to serve him. At that point we decided to leave.||||I do not expect preferential treatment and fully expected to have a wait at the bar due to how busy it was. But to be treated like that was unacceptable. ||Itâs not the first time either. This particular person has served her friends and ignored passing punters and people she doesnât know, including us on many occasions in the past. And if it wasnât for the fact we actually like it here we would have stopped visiting some time ago.||But this is the final straw. I might be an opportunity for the management to conduct a bit of training. This woman is pig ignorant.||There are plenty of other very nice places to drink in Bridgnorth and I will not be coming back to the White Lion.||If you are a casual visitor, KEEP AWAY, youâre not...

Read moreOur visit as a family (grandparents, mother and baby) started really well. The beer garden was lovely and a nice traditional selection of foods available and good beer was available. The lady that took our order was friendly and informative. The ploughmanâs platter and homemade scotch egg we ordered was great quality and served by a lovely young lady who made the scotch eggs herself. However, our experience was pretty much ruined when the lady that took our order came out into the beer garden after our plates and empty glasses had been cleared and spotted the small package of sandwiches we had brought for my 11 month old baby who is only starting to try small very soft solids in small mouthfuls. Myself and my mother were changing the baby when she approached my father in his 70s and told him sternly he couldnât sit there as âthe beer garden was only for customersâ. My father had personally paid this very same lady for our meal and drinks. My father replied âI am a customer Iâve just spent 28 poundsâ to which the lady did not apologise and walked off after making him feel embarrassed in front of a full garden of customers for no reason other than holding some snacks for his grandson. My dad was left quite distressed as he had finished a paid meal and drink a the small package of sandwiches in his hand was for my baby. On our way out, the same lady approached him again and said abruptly ânext time please just let me know if you are bringing your own foodâ. I explained that the small package of sandwiches was specially prepared for my weaning baby and yet we still received no apology other than ânext time let me know so I can get you a plate and make it special for youâ. All it required was a simple apology, my baby does not require a plate and only eats small mouthfuls by hand. The pub advertises on its outdoor marketing collateral that it offers a âwarm welcomeâ and is âfamily friendlyâ. In my opinion family friendly is not calling out an elderly man who has paid for food and drinks for his family just because he happens to have some sandwiches for his baby grandson in his hands in the beer garden. An apology would have gone a long way as our experience up until this incident was excellent. Family friendly? I...
