In my experience this is one of the most expensive places in Aylesbury for Chinese food, but that would be OK if it provided quality and value, sadly this is not the case.
You pay more but you get less, not just a smaller portion but a pathetic portion. I recently had the salt and pepper squid, something I have had many times, the pieces were much cut much smaller and we got hardly any, but £5.50 for that tiny portion.
We also had ribs, these used to be huge now we get just a few ribs, most of which were tiny 4 to 5 cm and no meat on them at all.
We had two noodle dishes the container was full of noodles but hardly any pork or duck, I also had an awful bone which cut into my gum. I could have choked on that!
Now while the container was full of noodles it is important to point out that these are reduced size plastic containers. So not only do you get LESS FOOD but they are REALLY bad for the environment as they are very hard to recycle. The other thing about these awful plastic containers is that they do not keep the food as warm as the traditional foil ones and they make the food sweaty, so forget about ordering anything crispy as it will arrive soggy.
As others have said the food quality is inconsistent, one day quite good the next day loaded with red chilli AND also with chilli oil and chilli flakes. When they first came to Aylesbury they had lovely fresh green chilli with oil or flakes as an option for those that want it. Both the squid and the ribs were way to spicy and I say that as someone who likes spicy food.
I spoke to the staff about this and they told me they have a central kitchen for preparation but food is finished off in each restaurant. To be honest I was not reassured, food prep warms up food, then refrigerated again, then transported to the restaurant, then heated.
Noodle Nation does offer some discounts for certain groups but to be honest why should I be subsiding these groups? I think it is just another excuse for the expensive prices, they up the price above average levels in Aylesbury and then give it back to a select few in discounts. I even tried joining their "club" it was rubbish, pathetic discounts.
Eating in is not a great option, the seating is most benches you share with other customers so you can't have a private conversation, it is also very uncomfortable which I feel is deliberate as the staff seem to want to move you on as soon as possible. It is also very cold, possibly due to the large glass windows but I do feel they do not heat the place adequately. So there is no ambiance, it is uncomfortable and you are squashed together on benches with other customers. It is also very disability unfriendly, the upper area has stools and high tables and you have to get yourself down steps to the main seating area. So this is not a place we can take our elderly
Usually I do not mind paying a bit for for quality and value but you simply do not get that at Noodle Nation, sometimes the food is of good quality but in my experience it is less than 50/50.
If you got decent sized portions I might not be so miffed, but I am NOT going to order two of everything to get a decent portion, it really does seem that at Noodle Nation you PAY MORE...
Read moreI am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at this restaurant. I specifically ordered vegetarian dumplings, but to my shock, I was served chicken dumplings. This is deeply hurtful to my religious sentiments and dietary preferences. What makes it worse is that this is not the first time — previously, I ordered vegetarian noodles and they were served with prawn. I let that incident go, thinking it was a one-off mistake, but clearly, it is a recurring issue.
The staff seemed careless, confused, and unbothered when I raised the concern. Only when the manager came over was there an apology, but by then, the damage was done. Such negligence is unacceptable, especially when it comes to respecting customers’ dietary and religious beliefs. I sincerely hope the restaurant takes this seriously and ensures strict measures to avoid such incidents in...
Read moreReally disappointed with this meal. We ordered a takeaway towards the end of last year and have always really enjoyed the food. The takeaway last year was disappointing. The squid was chewy and the delivery was cold. Decided to give it another go this weekend but went to pick it up instead. The squid was chewy, the crispy beef has become ‘sticky’ beef but it is so different, the sauce wasn’t pleasant and the ‘beef strips’ were just not nice on the pallet. The noodle box was covered in some kind of sauce that wasn’t there before. The only thing that tasted the same as previous orders was the Thai green chicken curry which has received my 2 stars. I’ve always enjoyed noodle nation and its flavours but sadly the food is now not worth what I paid which was over £50 for disappointing flavours. Back to the Chinese on Fairford Leys for me! (And I never...
