I travelled 20 miles with my two children to come and try this place out. We were greeted well on arrival and quickly offered a table. No one explained that there was a children’s menu and we ordered accordingly. I ordered a hot dog which was brought out ten minutes before my children’s desserts. They were asking me where their desserts were as they looked on at my meal. Eventually theirs arrived and we started eating together. My meal had gone cold by then. Our drinks were brought to the table before this, I ordered a bottle of beer. The waitress asked me if I would like a glass, to which I replied ‘yes please’. She proceeded to bring me an extremely hot glass. Meantime, we didn’t have relevant cutlery on the table and I spent five minutes trying to get someone’s attention for a glass and cutlery. When the replacement t glass arrived, it was a jam jar style glass with a handle. I asked for an appropriate glass and waited a further five minutes. The quality of the food was good but the service was not. The final insult was receiving a bill with no concession or perhaps just a courtesy chat/apology from a Manager and to add insult to injury, a service charge was added. Coming from Milton Keynes, I was looking forward to recommending The Works to others locally and to spread the word. Currently I won’t be doing this. I submitted my feedback to their website as I believe it’s best to discuss these things with the company and give them the opportunity to remedy things first, but no one has replied. I note that The Works haven’t taken the opportunity to reply to negative feedback here either, which doesn’t look good for their customer service element. A real shame as their business model looks great, but I won’t...

came here last night with my partner and daughter and found it sadly disappointing...certainly wasn't the WOW experience you promise. We were seated quickly and our orders taken shortly after but it went downhill from there. we ordered 3 milkshakes, a sundae, a crepe and a waffle. within 10 minutes my daughter and I had our crepe and waffle brought over also assuming my partners sundae would be following immediately, however 5 to 10 minutes later he had to go and ask about it to be told by staff they had forgotten about it. my partner chose to have it removed from the bill purely because by the time he would get it myself and my daughter would have finished ours and seeing as we came out as a family we expected to eat as a family. my partner then had to go and speak to who I guess was the duty manager again(already spoke the manager regarding the forgotten sundae)after pulling what looked like plastic out of his mouth that had come up through his straw from his milkshake. We then had to query the bill as it wasn't clear what we had to pay for and what the manager removed from the final bill to which we felt we were met with a rather dismissive attitude. the atmosphere in here isn't relaxing and the kitchen towel roll that was plonked on the table isn't my idea of a good look. the crepe was cold, tasteless and underwhelming as was the waffle. considering the price charged for food and drink it certainly wasn't worth it. I can honestly say we will not be...

Worst experience ever! Ordered a tex mex waffle without salsa, mother got her food served first and then 10 minutes I was served mine. My mum was already finished when mine came and mine looked terrible! I could tell straight away why it took so long to come, they had accidentally put the salsa on and then they have tried to scrape it off!! Which has left a gooey waffle covered in red sauce! They didn’t even try to replace or come over to say wht had happened or even apologise for the wait. The manager didn’t even flick a eye, she was actually helping the cook scrape it off with a rag which was attached to her waist! I love the works!!! BUT not when it’s like this! I found out about the works around 3 years ago and have loved it since, yes it is ran by teenagers but they are respectful and kind and don’t mess around but I don’t know wht happened! But after covid, ITS CHANGED! Less respect, no kindness! We then decided to order a dessert! To see if it was better! But NO!! Ordered but then my mum pointed out that the server didn’t even ask if we wanted on a crepe or a waffle and wht flavour ice we wanted! So we didn’t know wht we were excepting, couldn’t even grab someone’s attention all too busy behind the kitchen chatting and giggling! So in the end we paid, left no tip and walk out! Wht a way to ruin a...

I recently visited The Work with friends and was thoroughly impressed. The service was excellent, prompt, friendly, and attentive. The selection of desserts and ice cream was extensive, offering plenty of choices to satisfy any sweet tooth. The decor is unique and adds a special charm to the ambiance, making the experience even more enjoyable. Despite the high quality, the prices are reasonable, making it a must-try spot. I’ll definitely be returning in the future.

Great american style dinner, they have lovely crepes and waffles in big portions and gorgeous ice cream and desert (Which comes in a huge chalice). The coffee is also lovely and everything comes with a dairy free option, which is great for lactose intolerant people. The staff are very laid back and friendly and give good service and the atmosphere and music the restaurant has is lively and makes it a great place to go for any situation.

Photos from old and new trips, some as old as 2017. The works is a great place for a catch up with friends and has great dessert options but also savoury ones too for those who don't have a sweet tooth. Banoffee Waffle is my go too, love it! The works staff ate always friendly and accommodating, the service is quick and easy to pay when done too.
