The hotel has got the advantage of being in the middle of the older town of Aylesbury.|But let’s start from the beginning. The hotel has no parking at all. You have to park your car somewhere else. Use the RingGo App in Aylesbury.|The second floor is something for mountaineers who might be able to climb up the steep stairs.|The room up there which was offered was crab. Fire door inside the room which couldn’t be closed from the inside and was causing a cold draft. Lucky us we could change to first floor and a much bigger and nicer room. Why did you offer us the bad room in the first considering we stayed a few days?|Cooked breakfast is charcoaled. The continental selection is very limited. Some cereals, some apples and oranges, croissants and toast, Marmite and butter. Did I forget something? To drink orange juice, still water, brewed coffee ( temperature varied from hot enough to lukewarm) and a thermos with water for the tea. Nice tea bags, but why not invest in a kettle? The tea water was basically not lukewarm, but closer to “Lukecold”. Are we in Britain? Never made a proper tea? |Last day they ran out of milk…. |The room was ok, the bed was good, the shower modernised, but needs some maintenance. Hardly any water coming out of the shower, everything was calcified.|For people staying longer there is a room service every third day it says in the leaflet. We didn’t have one. Not that I need fresh towels every day, but a clean now and then would be fine. Tea making facilities are two teabags (kettle in the room) for the stay. Some people use teabags a second and third time…|After all this hotel was a once in a lifetime experience not to be repeated.|By the way not to forget to mention they have got a restaurant as well. After our breakfast experience we ate out. There are nice options within...
Read moreWe stayed here for 4 nights by mistake - we had been looking for a different Bell hotel in the area. On arrival it turned out that the “limited parking available” mentioned in our booking was the 3-4 public spaces with a maximum stay of 1hour. Initially we were offered room 201 at the top of a very steep flight of stairs. It was dark, cramped, with a tiny bed and the shower was inside a bathtub. The worst however was the fire door beside the bed which was locked open behind which was a badly fitted piece of plasterboard which was alarmed. Although it was a warm day, there was an icy cold draught blowing in around it. |On request we were given, without a single word, a different room one floor down which was spacious and clean.||The second room, 106, was fine but the hotel policy is to only service rooms every 3 days for stays of more than 4 nights. While we don’t need fresh sheets and daily, it would have been nice if someone had vacuumed through at some point and filled up the t-bags.||Breakfast was terrible. A very sad “continental “ selection consisting of boxed cereals clingfilm wrapped bread and a not entirely functional toaster, prepackaged jam and the same grapes, oranges and a single apple for our whole stay. The coffee appeared to have been made at some point during the night by whatever member of staff was on night duty. The saddest thing for me though was although there were quality t-bags on offer (tea pigs) the “hot” water was barely tepid! |We ordered the full cooked breakfast on our first morning but it was barely edible sausages and bacon were burnt black, the hash browns were solid. The scrambled egg on toast on the second day were not much better. So it was cereals for the rest of the time and we constantly had to...
Read moreI'd liked to have given this hotel 4 stars, I really would. I will give the 4th star, eventually. Let me explain . . . I stayed for 1 night in room 207. It's a lovely room, recently refurbished apparently and it was great. A twin single, spotlessly clean with comfy beds and a clean spacious bathroom. Plenty of bath and hand towels, with various shower gels and shampoos. Air con included. Tea and coffee making facilities and a TV that actually worked. Quiet too, despite looking out onto a busy street on a Saturday night. Sunday mornings Full English was excellent - a choice of cereals, the grill itself, fruit juice, all to a high standard. (Who supplies those sausages? I want some, please. They are gorgeous!) All served in a very friendly and cheerful manner by a lady whose name I didn't catch. Ideally situated in the middle of Aylesbury too. Blimey, what was not to like? The bar closing at 10.30 on Saturday night, despite the advertised time of 11pm, that's what! We'd had a long day of travelling and, long story short we had been looking forward to a 'nightcap' before retiring to our rooms. It was a let down. It was explained that they were short staffed . . . 🤔 I know it seems a minor quibble but it didn't create a good impression on our first and only night, which is a great pity. Everything else was great! Hence the docking of one star. Oh, alright then. Have the star back; ⭐⭐⭐⭐ but you should stay open until the advertised time, especially for residents. Other than that, highly...
