I visited this restaurant recently and I must say the food was really good and we had a nice time. A majority of the staff were very accomodating when we arrived which was great however I felt certain things could have been improved. I'm sure the waitress we had was busy however there were a few things that made me and my partner feel uncomfortable. We ordered and ate mains (which we had eaten) and when asked if we could see the menu again she didn't look too pleased. We didn't get asked if we wanted any drinks throughout the evening other than when we walked in and when we gave our order there was no response or eye contact which just made it really awkward. A very friendly young waitress at the end came to us and asked if we would like Ice cream which I was unaware was included in the all you can eat deal as we had no communication with our waitress throughout the night. She also told the the polite young waitress to leave the plates containing very minimal food, on the table although we were finished. This felt like a gesture as If to say that it was to be left so that we would finish it. When I paid for the bill at the bar the same waitress took payment to which I replied thank you and goodbye. There was no reply at all which I thought was quite rude to be honest having just spent money in this restaurant. I don't usually leave reviews or comments and the meal was so nice I just felt I had to share my view as you'd expect a half decent service at the very least. Other than this I'd eat here again although I'd ask for a...
Read moreWent to Zen city with the family for a birthday celebration, this was the first time we tried Zen City and we wouldn't go back again.
We had the buffet menu, I ordered the vegetable spring rolls whilst the rest of the table had a soup. I was expecting the spring rolls would come out at the same time but they didn't, the spring rolls didn't come out until the party had finished there soups and the rest of the normal starters got brought out.
Everyone who had a soup said they were nice but not the best they have had. The starters were horrible, it seemed like all of the bits were brought frozen and shoved into a deep fat fryer to cook. Everything tasted of oil, they were dry and just overall bad.
You could of easily brought everything we had as a starter from Iceland and it would of tasted better.
The main dishes were okay, they weren't oily and they had more flavour but nothing to shout about, one of the party ordered the pork curry and said the pork was like leather.
I wish I could say the service made up for the food but it didn't, the service we got wasn't great. It felt like our waiter didn't want to be there, the friendly person we spoke to was the bar man, he was great.
I personally wouldn't recommend coming here, you're spending £20 per adult and food that you could easily get from Iceland for alot cheaper and it would...
Read moreMy date had a table booked for 7pm, but we still had a 15 minute wait for our table, in the most ridiculously tiny seated waiting area.
Once seated at our table, our FIRST drinks took yet another 30 minutes to come out. By this point, I was dying of thirst, as it was a hot, sweaty, Summer evening.
There is NO AIR CONDITIONING.
Once we finally had our drinks, the food comes out at a steady pace... But the food is nothing special to write home about.
I had salt & pepper squid to start, which was rubbery and overcooked... And for main, I had lemon chicken which was dry. The best part about my whole dinner was the lemon sauce over the chicken and garlic broccoli - but that was all.
Desert... THEY ONLY SELL ICE CREAM which was another let down. No banana or pineapple fritters!!!!
I found the decor OLD and overall, did not find Zen City all that great! I wouldn't return for a date! That's for sure.
PS. The only parking is on the main road directly outside, which would be a NIGHTMARE to park along if you were dining at lunchtime. Only at night is parking a bit...
