DO NOT GO HERE - THEY OVER CHARGE PEOPLE!!
We came here for dinner last night and it was AWFUL!!
We arrived a d 6pm were told straight away that service would be slow due to there only being one staff member working and they seemed so stressed, which added to the atmosphere. The waitress was so kind, but even she was so stressed that she was dropping plates and I felt so bad for her. Then after half an hour, they finally came to take our order and advised us that food would be roughly 20-25 minutes - from arrival, to taking out food order, we didn’t actually eat until 19:34 - so that’s an hour and a half of waiting and with 4 children aged 2 - 8 years old, this was far from ideal! Then the food arrived… it was so salty and the lamb was from a very cheap cut of meat, making it hard to digest and eat which didn’t help by the way it was cooked so well that you could barely chew it. The rice was undercooked and the food was cold but everyone was so hungry, we had no choice as we were afraid to wait another hour for food. The manager did get me another plate of lamb shish, but it took so long that I lost my appetite!
People ended up leaving due to the time it had taken and to make matters worse THEY WERE OVERCHARGING PEOPLE!! To make matters worse, a couple of guests walked back from their car and noticed the receipt didn’t quite add up!
I booked a table the day before and noted we would need a highchair. Most restaurants would normally rearrange tables for guests so that they could accommodate those with prams, we were sat upstairs meaning we had to carry a baby in the pram upstairs and leave a pram downstairs, which was not ideal.
Overall, we would have been better off going to McDonalds. Being served so late, service and food...
Read moreI've already created a Tr1p Advis0r listing for La Mar Shish because I couldn't find one. i posted on there (rather long review but the restaurant was so exceptional I wanted to give lots of details!). The post hasn't shown up so I'm hoping I didn't write it all for nothing. Anyway I thought I'd post here on Google too - can't really say more than I agree with everyone who has already posted here on Google. The food, the presentation, the service, the decor - everything was absolutely outstanding. It puts to shame so many restaurants I've been to over the last few years where you don't feel welcomed and the food is second rate although the prices aren't! La Mar Shish was beyond my family's expectations. It was my son's birthday and all of us including him were so surprised to have eaten in such lovely surroundings (fabulous bar serving cocktails too - my son had one to celebrate) and the food was the tastiest and freshest we could remember having. We ate from the lunchtime menu too - the price was unbelievable - £12.99 for two courses. Even in a very average restaurant that would be on the cheap side, but to have eaten here and had an outstanding experience for that money is insane. Fantastic a la carte menu too of course, so much choice (vegans and vegetarians well cared for). I shan't hesitate to take friends here for a meal as I can be assured of a fantastic time for everyone. Ok I am writing too much again, so I'll stop but La Mar Shish is definitely a massive...
Read moreWe got in to resturant and they wasn't very welcoming. The staff looked tired, miserable and scruffy. They sat us down and we waited 10mins to be served for them to realise we didn't get given a menu to look at and order from. The restaurant had the aircon on. We sat and ate in our coats! Its winter outside! The music was to loud and it was awful club/rave music. Music didnt fit in with a relaxing turkish resturant. We didnt go there to rave! Food was expensive and the salad had such a strong taste to it we didn't eat it as tasted horrible. The portion meat size was small. We had mixed chicken and lamb shish. I ordered a malibu and pineapple but the pineapple juice was watered down! They charged more than the cost on the menu. They added a £6 service charge to the bill which i didn't realise at the time you can refuse to pay and would have. I'm assuming this is to avoid tipping the staff and goes in to the owner of the business. Since when does the uk charge service charges??? For the service we had i wouldn't have paid it. We won't be going back. We felt we wasted £60 that we didn't expect to pay that much due add on of service charge and the over price drink as well as a non relaxing atmosphere of rave music and...
