The Famous Green Man — Restaurant in Epsom and Ewell

Unprofessional staff members.

My workplace reserved a section of the pub just for us, for Christmas drinks. I waited to get a drink for 45 minutes, one of my collegue was clever enough to go to the main bit of the pub and got served before me and he was waiting for only about 5 minutes. Where I was in the reserved section that my work PAID for and they took 45 minutes to serve one person. When i asked to speak to someone, no one came and they made me wait another 15 minutes, finally someone came, i was furious however polite. I said “I’ve been waiting for 30 minutes now” and another member of staff came up to me and acused me of abusing them, when the only thing i said was that I have been waiting for much longer than i even stated and they are not professional enough to even say sorry to a customer that waited 45 minutes. Fair enough they are busy but how were they serving the main bit of the pub, there was at least 5 people behind the bar, i think at least one should have covered our area. Unorganised and rude.

I am sorry to say my one and only visit was not a great experience, it was fairly busy when we visited and we were in a large party, however I didn't feel that our polite (and sober) requests for food and drink should be met with aggression. This was made worse when my burger arrived cold and undercooked. It was begrudgingly taken back (apparently the chef is easily angered - or so our server said), only for me to find the last mouthful was still raw. It was a bit late by then, and I appear to have suffered no ill effects. It was otherwise a very tasty meal. I was somewhat taken aback as every one of my work colleagues had spoken so highly of this gastropub. We went for a Sunday roast for the first time at the Famous Green Man. We were warmly greeted, the open fire was glowing and the pub had a nice feel about it. We ordered drinks and 2 beef and a lamb roast. The food arrived in good time and looked fantastic and a decent portion, it all tasted beautiful however the meat was very tough and we mentioned it to the waitress. The owner was over in moments, very apologetic and empathetic and insisted we had our meals changed. About 15 minutes later we had new roast chicken meals which tasted amazing.
