Very disappointing.
Visited this afternoon with my daughter and granddaughter, we were looking for somewhere quiet to enjoy a good coffee and some lunch whilst my granddaughter was asleep in her pushchair.
From the street we came across this little coffee shop whuch looked promising, serving a variety of drink choices, There was a few people in but it wasn't over crowded.
As soon as we walked in we heard someone welcome us to the real coffee cafe as we looked at the chalk boards and the cakes on the counter, we were discussing which cake/lunch to choose when it turned sour.
Whilst I placed the order my daughter was looking for a table when the lady who was working the counter asked my daughter to park her pushchair at the back of the cafe, when my daughter explained that the child was asleep. The woman in the counter replied "she was a sleep" implying that it was okay to leave my granddaughter at the back of the cafe on her own.
My daughter said she didn't want to leave her asleep at the back of the cafe when there were no where for my daughter to sit close to her.
My daughter explained she would sit at the front of the shop where there was room for her to sit with the pushchair close to her.
There was a very sweet lady sat at the table near the back who spoke to the women at the counter to ask if she should move. (Which we wouldn't have asked) however, with a tone in her voice the woman from behind the counter told her not to move.
I began to place our order, but the woman behind the counter still wasn't happy and proceeded to tell my daughter who at this point was sitting at a table near the door not to put her pushchair to close to the settee (which it wasn't)
I then asked if it was easier if we just left as both the cafe and the woman behind the counter wasn't very child friendly.
We went round the corner and found The Cleaver cafe and bar. Which the service was extremely friendly and the coffee and cake...
Read moreUp until very recently I would completely agree with most of the reviews here, it’s local to me and a lovely family run place with a cosy atmosphere and the best coffee in the area, there’s also community events like a knitting group that I have really enjoyed. But if you’re a queer person like me and my friends (especially visibly so) this isn’t a safe place for you at all- the owner chats about transphobic nonsense with the locals and me and my friends were complained about for just discussing the concept of preferred pronouns. I thought I could at least say that the manager was friendly if only in a clueless, tries to please everyone sort of way but when I went to talk to her about this and explain how I wasn’t comfortable anymore she was cold and the minute I left badmouthed me in the group chat we had for knitting and kicked out all the queer members. Long story short of you’re straight and cis and white (I didn’t even go into the things I’ve heard them say about refugees- to my shame I ignored it because I had the privilege not to be effected) then this is probably a nice place for you but if you’re not or you’re an ally to those who aren’t I‘d...
Read moreCalled in today, I was firstly impressed by the rustic decor, then, I had the best personalized service from Amanda the owner, who has a wealth of knowledge and experience of coffee, her passion, and ready to share it with anyone interested,...I was,.... then came the coffee, a house special cappuccino, really smooth, with a complimentary biscuit that was a lovely touch, the atmosphere was relaxed with the help of the right background music and volume level,.....after a quick visit to the bathroom which is spotless by the way and has rolled up hand wash flannels with soap and hand lotion I sat down and relaxed while chatting about coffee, something the big impersonal coffee chains don't have time to give you but want your money, so I suggest you give RealCoffee.cafe a try, support an independent, where real coffee is perfectly prepared and served to you at your table by a genuine, passionate, professional barista and trained latte art owner of the best coffee house in long Eaton, so if you're a coffee lover, you'll love...
