It was a busy Friday evening preceding an August Bank Holiday weekend and the getaway had begun in earnest. It was around 9:30 pm when we arrived and the whole services area was pretty busy, with queues at all the food outlets. The BK section was no exception, and pretty crowded with around 25 people waiting. We must have waited around 20 minutes for our food to be ready and the queue was just as long when we left. The menu was limited for some reason, just the whoppers, chicken and vegan options, perhaps they’d run out of other options. There were no Angus variations for instance, or other specialist burger options available, which was a shame as we had a big choice a few weeks previously at another BK branch. This time I had a whopper with some extra bacon, as an XL meal, it was nice, better than MacDonalds any day, but not as nice as the Countess Services by Stonehenge, which we had tried two weeks previous on a journey home from London. The burger was warm rather than hot, and so was the coke, even though it had ice in it! I’m also not a fan of the computer ordering systems they have now introduced and it was too busy to try and get to the counter to order. Beccy’s vegan burger XL meal had too much mayo, she enjoyed it but will have something else next time. Unfortunately on the ordering system, there’s no option to reduce the amount of mayo, just remove it completely and it’s really impersonal, plus that’s someone’s job gone. I think next time we’ll go to one of the BKs in town, probably Exe Bridges as that one was excellent when we went there last, some 4 months ago. So overall, two large meals and drinks for a shade over £20, a 20 minute wait and the burgers were not as good as we have had elsewhere. Having said that, still better than MacD! We have had better at other BKs, and I’d still stop here if needed, but tonight was a little...
Read moreThe halloumi burger was perhaps big enough for a small child, or a diminutive ballerina. I, however, am a full grown man. A man. A full grown man. I'm not a little girl. I'm a man. I'm a full grown man.
The fries? Salty!
The milkshake? Delicious!
The halloumi burger? Laughable!

If you want fine gourmet dining, or perhaps just a halloumi burger bigger than a small bee, you should consider both alternative dining, of which ample choices are available to the discerning connoisseur, but also your life choices, which, alas, must always be top of mind in burger king.
Will I eat here again... Perhaps! But I will order 6 halloumi burgers and 26 packets of the so called cheesy chilly melts, which were neither cheesy, chilly or melty!
Avoid, if at all possible. Concede, if the boney fingers of addiction clutch too tightly at your heart and pancreas.
Nice seating and generous condiments.
Oh, and the staff couldn't have been nicer. Adding a star to my review for those hard working...
Read moreIt started well but, I had to order from the till/counter as we wanted the Angus burger and that wasn't on the on screen menu. The member of staff was polite but had to redo my order as it looked as though he incorrectly put it in. I paid for the 2x meals and was given order No 2111 and waited, and waited, and watched while others who ordered after me were served and given their orders. I didn't see my order number appear at all on the board so queried this with one if the staff who checked and apologised saying my order hadn't been put in screen. My order was hurriedly put together (less than four minutes) and given to me with another apology. When I sat down and began to eat, the burger was cold and my coffee order had to be redone as I was given a black coffee when I had ordered a white coffee. Not overly impressed with the service or standing watching others complain about their orders either missing elements or wrong altogether, will not be ordering from...
