Strawberry Field Tavern — Restaurant in Fareham

Dined here last night for the 1st time. We were a party of 5 and one of us had specific dietary requirements, which were discussed when the table was booked. Firstly the person that had dietary requirements couldn't have the meal they wanted as the chef had run out of that dish. So another dish, which wasn't really what they had wanted was ordered. Secondly, one of the meals turned up with I believe were roast potatoes, but, as on my own dish, it was hard to determine, as they were so over cooked, when chips had been asked for when the meal was ordered. It was queried when the meal arrived and the waitress was asked if they could be swapped, but this was refused, and she said " the chef doesn't do that"! So a portion of chips were ordered as a separate dish. Next, my dish, which was Teriyaki Salmon with broccoli and these indistinguishable potatoes. I've never actually seen a smaller portion of Salmon, ever, being served in any restaurant I've eaten in! The broccoli portion was huge in comparison and those potatoes!! Grabbed some lunch here today. Food was great. Fullers pricing so I'm not sure if they are a sister company. The menu needs clarification on which items come with their mains, as we ordered chips based on what it stated on the menu and ended up with too many as the main also came with chips. It wouldn't normally be a problem but the server didn't even mention it to us when we ordered. At the end of the meal we made sure to highlight this to the waitress who told us that it happens all of the time. So why not pre-warn your customers before they pay?! Our server was really friendly and helpful, nice guy. All of the food that we ordered was really yummy (my friends and I ordered the rump steak, halloumi sticks with sweet chilli dip, breaded garlic mushrooms, and 2x cheesy chips, yum!), plus it wasn't too expensive (about £55 in total including a drink or 2 each)! When we arrived at 5pm on Friday evening it wasn't too busy and noisy, and as the evening went on their live music started and it got really busy.
