Me and my partner decided to give The Railway a go after hearing great things about the food from family and friends. We weren't disappointed.
The menu is small and focused, which we loved. To start we had the chicken tikka, sheekh kebab and onion bhaji. Served within 20 minutes of placing our order, everything was piping hot and absolutely delicious. The meat was perfectly tender and the onion bhaji was one of the best we've ever had.
For our mains we had the lamb LKK and the goat curry (I've forgotten the exact name on the menu). Both were fantastic, very generous portions and again, beautifully cooked and tasted super fresh.
The service was impeccable too.
I must say, for the money, this is definitely up there in terms of quality and is in the running for the best Indian/Nepalese food in Peterborough and the surrounding area.
For reference, me and my partner had 3x starters, 2x main dishes, 2x rice dishes, 2x pints of beer and 2x glasses of wine. The bill came to less than £70 which is an absolute bargain these days.
If you're thinking of trying this place out, do it. You won't be...
Read moreSince coming here earlier in the year , this is my "go-to" place for a night out. The food is always fantastic, and the service is really good. We've even had thier take aways.
The mixed grills are amazing, and the goat curry really needs to be tried - as that is really tasty. The bar staff here are great. All in all - this has to be one of the best places to come and enjoy what is probably the tastiest curry in the area.
Ate here on a Monday night, and it was brilliant. The staff were quick to get our orders once we'd decided what to have. This included them bringing our drinks through also. We went for starters and main. The Onion bhaji was the absolute best I've ever tasted - and a decent size too. We all chose different dishes - and when it all arrived - we could have done with a bigger table! The mixed grill was amazing - and so tender . You could choose a different sauce with the biryani (we still had the vegetable)
Really good food - which was so tasty! Highly recommend, and we will definitely be coming back to try...
Read moreUnfortunate experience at the railway pub today. Myself and two friends entered the pub (17 years olds) at just gone at 8. We asked on the door to play pool, and was confirmed it was okay. Upon sitting down to a table to wait we were approached by a bar staff member. She asked us all if we were 18, telling us to leave. While I had no qualms in doing so, she proceeded to tell us this was not a playground for little kids and was a pub that served alcohol. We were sat quietly chatting amongst ourselves. While I have no issues leaving an establishment if asked, I feel her tone and attitude was rude and condescending. Further more we were not required to leave as under 18s may enter a pub and not drink alcohol. As I have visited many times in the past, and I know the Railways pub to be a family establishment I am disappointed overall. To both make a scene publicly against us and turn away customers just demonstrated poor...
