What a delight having lunch here today, a gorgeous little Italian restaurant on the Front St of Pity Me 🇮🇹 The food was absolutely gorgeous and the service even better. We honestly couldn't complain about anything, the Lasagne, Canneloni and Carbonara were all beautiful 🇮🇹 For around £20 each we had 2 courses, a starter and main with a drink and coffee to finish off ☕️ Set in a 250 year old building it has gone by many names over the years i.e The Fox and the Hound' and 'The Lambton Hounds' It is thought that Fox Hunts would start from here and that inquests into mining tragedies took place within these walls. More interestingly, there is a beautiful piece of history taking centre stage inside. The Cocktail Bar originates from RMS Olympic, the sister ship to the doomed Titanic 🚢 Thankyou La Spada for a beautiful lunch today. It has been many years since we have seen each other and your service made our reunion extra special 🙏

Visited here as part of a large group one evening for a friends catch up meal. Some of the group had dined here before and spoke highly of this place. On arrival we were taken to our table and our drinks order was taken. The service was the most efficient I've experienced. We only waited minutes for our drinks before having our food order taken. We all had starters and mains. The food came out fairly quick and wow I wasn't disappointed one bit. I opted for the garlic bread with cheese with the main following shortly after which consisted of the 'Marinara' Pizza. This was divine! Other dishes of what I seen looked amazing too. A huge credit to the staff who looked after us all very well. They were friendly and super efficient. Will highly recommend this place and cant wait to return.

We were booked into La Spadas sister hotel, the OYO Chiltern down the Road, last Saturday. All was well, emails on the days leading upto it saying they can't wait to welcome us, etc.||||On our way there, at 12.50pm, we got a text informing us that the hotel was closed. Bear in mind, check in is from 12pm. They swapped our booking to La Spada.||||Never known a room like it. Especially now due to Covid where all rooms are meant to be deep cleaned - this room hadn't been cleaned for quite some time and certainly hadn't been checked prior to us entering.||||There were marks on radiators, wallpaper peeling off the walls, cracks in the ceiling, stains on curtains and bedding, spiders and cobwebs all over, broken toilet seat, broken shelf in bathroom, stains on towels and brown furry stuff in coffee cups. An absolute disgrace.||||How dare you charge for such rooms? And most importantly, how dare you expect people to stay in those conditions?||||We have received no word from OYO. No apology, no explanation or offer of a refund of any sort. Not able to contact them. They are just scammers! Do not book with OYO! Do not risk losing your money!||||I had to give it one star as it won't allow you to give zero, which is what...

We called on spec and were offered a seat at the table right beside door which I said i wasnt keen on, but was told I'd have to wait 10 minutes I felt this was a ploy to get us out of happy hour. However we sat in suggested seat. Incidently the whole seat along the wall was extremely uncomfortable and wobbled with other customers every move. Starter of black pudding and peppercorn sauce was distinctly average and i had the end of the roll of it. It could have done with some bacon too. Peppercorn sauce quite bland and had a skin over it. I purposely only had a little black pepper added in anticipation of the heat from the peppercorn sauce. But it wasn't so. Mozzarella starter again bland as was tomato sauce served with it. My carbonara was ok. The nicest flavour was the mushrooms. Clearly fresh and tasted delicious. Needed a lot of black pepper to enhance taste. My husbands la spada pizza base tasted undercooked for his personal taste and was better reheated the next day. Same issue with base of garlic bread. Quite an expensive evening for a early tea time meal. The wine was extremely expensive for a house white and was luke warm.

We did leave a generous tip simply because the waiting staff and service...
