We were booked into La Spadas sister hotel, the OYO Chiltern down the Road, last Saturday. All was well, emails on the days leading upto it saying they can't wait to welcome us, etc.||||On our way there, at 12.50pm, we got a text informing us that the hotel was closed. Bear in mind, check in is from 12pm. They swapped our booking to La Spada.||||Never known a room like it. Especially now due to Covid where all rooms are meant to be deep cleaned - this room hadn't been cleaned for quite some time and certainly hadn't been checked prior to us entering.||||There were marks on radiators, wallpaper peeling off the walls, cracks in the ceiling, stains on curtains and bedding, spiders and cobwebs all over, broken toilet seat, broken shelf in bathroom, stains on towels and brown furry stuff in coffee cups. An absolute disgrace.||||How dare you charge for such rooms? And most importantly, how dare you expect people to stay in those conditions?||||We have received no word from OYO. No apology, no explanation or offer of a refund of any sort. Not able to contact them. They are just scammers! Do not book with OYO! Do not risk losing your money!||||I had to give it one star as it won't allow you to give zero, which is what...

Starter of black pudding and peppercorn sauce was distinctly average and i had the end of the roll of it. It could have done with some bacon too. Peppercorn sauce quite bland and had a skin over it. I purposely only had a little black pepper added in anticipation of the heat from the peppercorn sauce. But it wasn't so. Mozzarella starter again bland as was tomato sauce served with it. My carbonara was ok. The nicest flavour was the mushrooms. Clearly fresh and tasted delicious. Needed a lot of black pepper to enhance taste. My husbands la spada pizza base tasted undercooked for his personal taste and was better reheated the next day. Same issue with base of garlic bread. Quite an expensive evening for a early tea time meal. The wine was extremely expensive for a house white and was luke warm.
We did leave a generous tip simply because the waiting staff and service...
