The Fog On The Tyne — Restaurant in Gateshead

I've walked into this building more than cpl thousand times but this was the first time since the schooner became the fog on the Tyne, it was literally like walking into a different building, it was sad but in good way and it looks like it's finally had that much needed face lift. Great welcoming from the staff and place was clean, tidy and well presented with a great new layout, we ordered from the lunch time menu and took advantage of the all burgers £9 in January offer, I had the BBQ brisket burger which was delicious and packed a punch from the jalapenos, my wife had the scampi and they said it was the small portion but I don't think she could have ate another bite I didn't know what to expect and I was hesitant to go down and see the changes but I'm glad I did and I'll definitely be back if they keep making food that good Get down and try it...

Ok let's be fair, it was a very quiet midweek lunchtime visit, this did nothing for the lack of ambience, however I thought the place was rather featureless; others have told me it's better in the evening, and live music is on offer on certain days..heads up for quizzers, Wednesday evening is quizz night but phone to book your table. I had Korean Chicken which although tasty came in a large bun/small stottie so quite a lot of bread to get through. The chips had the appearance of having been cooked some time earlier, allowed to cool and refried; normally I like twice fried but these were rather oily for my taste. Pricing? 2025 update: any reservations I had about food taking a certain time have disappeared! This is now a well piled machine with delicious food and drink, and excellent offers throughout the week. Good job!

Lovely hidden gem of a pub! New ownership has made the food and beer menu really versatile and while our food took a smidge longer than I'd like on a Tuesday evening, I suspect the kitchen is still getting used to everything so won't hold it against them and will instead focus on freshness and deliciousness!
