We came here with two families whilst visiting Cardiff. We ordered a few items from the breakfast menu including the Haleem, omelette, paratha and the Halwa puri breakfast. The food was decent but prices are a bit on the steep side. The shop is quite small so not ideal for big families to dine in. As stated, food was ok but service was very poor which resulted in a negative experience. We had to wait over an hour for our food which resulted in the main items (Haleem, eggs) getting cold. The owner did not apologise or even offer us a replacement for the items that were cold due to his negligence. Even when we ordered extra halwas and paratha, this took forever which resulted in the children losing their appetite. We did order beforehand to give the owner enough time to cook but seems like they gave our food to another family that were there before us. They should really look to get some extra staff in which will result in a much better customer experience. When we stressed that we had to wait 2 hours for the food to be served and most of it was cold, we thought he may have given us a slight discount to the total price as it came in towards £100 but he did not budge and nor did he provide us a simple apology which would have gone a long way. Will not be retuning here...
Read moreTerrible place. When you hear the name Mushtaq's, you think of the brand from Birmingham. But this place is just giving them a bad bame. To say the decor is tacky is an understatement. The variety extremely limited, and the prices for some of the items, like Katlama, extortionate. Then to top it off only one tiny sauce pot is given with an order. I don't mind oaying for extra sauces, however, it's quite stingy on their part to give one pot with 5 katlama, like where is the sense in that. Whilst we were waiting some Aunty walked in with the cake slices that she made at home and then they were put into the cake display. The mitai on display is placed in take away/disposable polystyrene trays. Ths place isn't going to last very long. If your not making the mitai fresh everyday nobody is going to continue purchasing after the first one or two visits. I know i won't. Definitely agree with another reviewer, better off going to Birmingham. And please feel sorry for the poor girl using a calculator to work out the totals, get her a decent epos system, she is so slow at her calculations that it took her 40 mins to serve two people...
Read moretoday we came to mashtaq’s for breakfast ! i’d heard good things so my expectations were very high … i was not disappointed. the chana was smokey, almost meaty in flavour and the halwa was lighter and less sweet than i’m used to which was a pleasant surprise ! the parathas were perfectly crisp and the puris were (huge and) soft rather than crumbly which i loved . the omelette was small but flavourful and filling with everything else . will definitely come again next time i’m in cardiff :) we also picked up some mithai to take home - highly recommend the habshi halva, kaju barfi, and ladoo !!! balushahi was slightly stale in flavour but they are my faves so my standards are pretty high for them . also, staff were all lovely and...
