Don’t Respect IKEA if IKEA Doesn’t Respect You!!!!

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the recent handling of our scheduled assembly appointment. Initially, we arranged for the assembly team to arrive between 9:00 and 11:00 AM and organized our day around this commitment. However, when the team did not arrive, we reached out, only to be informed—without any prior notification or request for approval—that the appointment had been rescheduled to 2:00 PM.

This last-minute change is, in itself, an inconvenience and demonstrates a lack of respect for our time. However, even more troubling was the unprofessional and inappropriate tone used in your representative's communication, where we were informed that if we did not agree to this new time, the appointment would be canceled. This language is both coercive and dismissive, suggesting that our only option was to accept the sudden change or forfeit the service altogether, even though we were not at fault.

We find it unacceptable that we, as customers, are threatened with cancellation due to changes made solely by the service team. This experience has significantly impacted our trust in IKEA's commitment to customer satisfaction, and we urge you to address this behavior with the utmost seriousness. We request that this matter be investigated and that appropriate measures be taken with the involved representative to prevent future occurrences.

Furthermore, I feel it is important to share my recent experience with IKEA customer service, as I had hoped for a responsible approach to the issue we faced. On October 30, 2024, at approximately 11:30 AM, I spoke with a representative to explain the situation, expecting that a company of IKEA’s stature would take customer satisfaction seriously. However, despite my detailed explanation, the representative repeatedly directed me to contact TaskRabbit, a third-party provider, for resolution.

I informed the representative that I would email TaskRabbit, but emphasized that IKEA also needed to address the matter internally. I sought guidance on where to officially submit my concerns regarding IKEA's role in this disappointing experience. Unfortunately, the representative abruptly hung up on me, despite my waiting patiently on hold for nearly 30 minutes prior to our conversation.

Such treatment is unacceptable, and I am compelled to share my experience so that other customers may avoid similar issues with IKEA. I hope that IKEA takes note and prioritizes treating customers with the respect...

I placed an order and the website was very misleading and despite me changing my delivery date it had not changed the truck delivery date unfortunately only the van delivery.

I called and spoke with someone called Grace who was so incredibly rude and unhelpful that I ended up crying. She tutted at me on the phone several times and you could tell she did not want to deal with my query or help me. She told me if I wished to speak to another advisor then I would have to disconnect and ring me back as it’s company policy to not transfer.

I called back and reached two other ladies who were amazing and super helpful, compromises made and I quickly travelled up to Cardiff to pick up my items. The last lady advised cushions and delivery refunded and rest of funds transferred across and all I had to do was go help myself from the warehouse and then speak to customer service.

At Cardiff it turns out I couldn’t do that and was taken to the customer service desk where I met some of the most amazing and helpful employees I have ever come across. Carter and Nathan went above and beyond to help me a rectify the situation in every way possible. They made me feel so welcome and made sure I left the store feeling happy, even remaining after closing time to make sure the entire problem was sorted. It turned out that the online customer service hadn’t fixed or done what was agreed so Carter and Nathan went out of their way to reassure me that they would fix it.

I left happy knowing that my entire situation was fixed. Nathan was understanding that the boxes wouldn’t fit in my car (I have a huge car so I thought they would) and he arranged urgent delivery for me for Friday as I am disabled and desperately needed the sofa so I could sit down.

Carter and Nathan’s sense humour, compassion and kindness really made a difference to me. You could tell they really genuinely wanted to help me. IKEA should be so incredibly proud to be able to call them their employees. I have never experienced such amazing customer service and as a disabled person this could have ended up very differently for me.

So thank you Carter and Nathan. You should be so proud of yourselves for the difference you made to...

IKEA Cardiff is an excellent place for furniture shopping, home décor, and a great overall shopping experience. Located conveniently off the M4, it has ample parking, making it accessible even on busy weekends. The store follows IKEA’s signature layout, guiding you through different sections—living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, and more—allowing you to visualize furniture in real-life settings. The selection is vast, with affordable yet stylish furniture and accessories for every home. Whether you’re looking for a minimalist design or something vibrant, IKEA has it all. I particularly love their PAX wardrobes and BILLY bookshelves, which offer excellent customization. The staff here are friendly and knowledgeable. On my last visit, I needed help selecting a comfortable office chair, and a staff member guided me through different options, explaining ergonomics and material quality. The self-service warehouse is well-organized, and even if you struggle to find an item, there are plenty of digital kiosks and helpful staff to assist. No visit to IKEA is complete without trying the restaurant! The famous Swedish delicacies are a must-try, and they also have delicious vegetarian and halal options. The café area is clean and spacious, making it a nice place to take a break from shopping. The Swedish Food Market near the checkout is a great place to pick up unique treats like Daim cakes, lingonberry jam, and frozen meatballs. The checkout process is generally smooth, with both self-checkout and staffed tills. I also used the Click & Collect service once, and it was incredibly efficient—I placed an order online and picked it up with minimal waiting time. And they have fantastic return policy and order online and collect at store facility as well . Free small parts for assembly always available at store and also deliver online at home as well free, which all I feel were fantastic. IKEA Cardiff is a fantastic destination for home shopping, offering affordable, stylish, and practical furniture. The overall experience is enjoyable, whether you’re redesigning your home or just browsing. I highly recommend visiting, especially on weekdays when it’s less crowded! Would I return? Absolutely!

To be honest not located in an easy to get to area, its got lots of parking the only way to get here is by vehicle unfortunately. Visited whole store and restaurant on second floor. If you have never been to IKEA they all follow same format it leads you up to the top floor and forces you to follow a one way direction to the ground floor warehouse section and then tills. It leaves me feeling like I've escaped a large oversized escape room on several floors. Prices and quality vary throughout so don't be hooked in by the cheap throwaway items that won't last. The cafe food is what I'd call child size portions, quality is like old school dinners expect dirty tables and unclean floors, im not sure why the restaurant is so busy to be honest lots of people walked in and left. We braved the queue and eventually sat down to eat after about 40 minutes in what can only be described as a prison line, Food quality is poor to average the fish was dry the mash was instant not fresh, chips undercooked and looked and tasted like the cheapest supermarket ones they could source. Meatballs are average coffee is also lacking in any taste of quality, For the portion size and quality it has to be my worst experience in a long time you will leave feeling hungry and ripped off. When leaving cafe to get out of store with a wheelchair it was awful had to get two lifts down from two ends of the store to again have to go threw lower market hall. With no exit signs absolutely disgusting and able-bodied design.
