Having decided to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary with members of the family in the form of a Sunday lunch. We looked at several options where they could cater for 30ish guests. Fortunately for us we chose the Aztec hotel as it was also the place where we had our wedding reception 30 years ago. From the initial booking to the service of the staff in the restaurant, the organisation of table layouts and serving of the food, everything was perfect. We were giving our own room and also provided with waitress service so as not to have to queue for the main course. The quality of the food and the level of service was much more than I had hoped for and made the whole occasion Something to remember. The tables were even laid out in a u-shape as if for a wedding party. After the meal, we also had direct access to the gardens which allowed for photographs to be taken. A definite 5 out of five. I ate at the bar one evening. It was pleasant and comfortable. The staff was friendly and very efficient. As soon as my drinks order was taken, you can see the bar staff making it in the background and it was brought to the table before the waitress finished taking my food order. That is impressive thanks to modern technology. I tried the pie, which was very nice. Recommended.

Disappointing Christmas Dinner with friends around 40 of us in total. Choices of starter had nothing I could eat, dinner was supposed to be salmon as a introduced extra fish option, but changed to hake before the event. At the event the staff kept bringing out turkey and beef then vegetarian option, wife kept saying no we are having fish. Eventually someone came and said sorry no fish, we must have given it to someone else, we have a vegetarian option or a beef option. Can't stand vegetarian and beef was with mushrooms which I can't eat which is why I chose fish. To be fair the beef looked amazing and tender, just a shame about the mushrooms.

Bar was supposed to be free paid by company, but the...

The set menu for our group of 13 was very limited and strange. The restaurant is over priced and the menu pretentious. The steak was a terrible cut for the £30 price, being fatty and full of sinew. The service was severely lacking, not that surprising since our waiter said the company get all the service charge. Our company had 8 rooms at the hotel, but we were not allowed to charge to the room the meal. Our group of 13 spent around £700 and for that price you expect good quality food and service, we got very little of either.

The 2 days of breakfast in the morning was a lot...
